The UFC returns to the Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday for UFC Vegas 75. It’s shaping up to be an exciting night of MMA action, headlined by the middleweight main event between Marvin Vettori and Jared Cannonier.
Vettori and Cannonier are two of the best competitors in the middleweight division at the moment, heading into the weekend as the No. 3 and No. 4 fighters, respectively. Considering how both men have failed to capture the UFC Middleweight Championship in the past, a victory in Sin City would do a lot to bring them closer to another shot at glory.
Unsurprisingly, Vettori vs. Cannonier doesn’t have any shortage of betting opportunities. Here’s a look at the latest odds for the UFC Vegas 75 main event, as well as a prediction and the best bet(s) for the fight.

Vettori vs Cannonier Fighter History
Oddsmakers predict that the main event is one that could go either way. Vettori might be the slim favorite, but his -120 odds only translated to an implied win percentage of 54.6%.
Vettori has done a good job at producing results in the UFC, going 7-2 in his past nine fights. He started that run off with five straight victories, which earned him a shot at Israel Adesanya’s middleweight title. Unfortunately, Vettori couldn’t get the job done, losing by unanimous decision after five hard-fought rounds.
The following contest saw Vettori make his light heavyweight debut in successful fashion, overcoming unanimously Paula Costa by points. The 29-year-old Italian then fell to Robert Whittaker in his middleweight return before beating Roman Dolidze, by points, in his most recent outing at UFC 286.
Meanwhile, Cannonier has also impressed ever since moving from the light heavyweight to middleweight division in 2018. He’s gone 6-2 in the division over that stretch, which includes four knockout victories.
It also isn’t like Cannonier has just been beating up on nobodies. He’s landed knockout victories over the likes of Derek Brunson, Jack Hermansson, and David Branch, earning ‘performance of the night’ honors in all three bouts.
After stacking up wins left and right, Cannonier earned himself a UFC Middleweight Championship opportunity against Adesanya at UFC 276. Just like Vettori, though, the chips didn’t fall in Vettori’s favor as he also came up short via unanimous decision.
Fortunately for the 39-year-old veteran, though, Cannonier bounced back from the jaws of defeat by defeating Sean Strickland by points six months ago.
It’ll be interesting to see which style prevails this weekend. After all, Cannonier is known for his striking ability, notching 10 of his 16 career wins by KO/TKO. Meanwhile, Vettori knows how to grapple with the best of them, averaging 1.77 takedowns and 0.5 submissions per 15 minutes.
Although Cannonier doesn’t have the greatest takedown defense, he’s still tough as nails, winning the last four fights that he was taken down in.
UFC Vegas 75 Betting Trends for Vettori vs Cannonier
- Vettori is 7-2 straight up in its last nine fights.
- Cannonier is 6-2 straight up in its last eight fights.
- Seven of Vettori’s last eight wins have come by decision.
- Five of Cannonier’s last seven wins have come by knockout.
- 12 of Vettori’s last 13 fights have gone the distance.
- Four of Cannonier’s last five fights have gone the distance.
Vettori vs Cannonier UFC Vegas 75 Fight Prediction
In what should be a close-fought main event, I’m backing Marvin Vettori as the likely victor. For starters, he’s 10 years younger than Cannonier and has better conditioning. Secondly, he’s a decent enough striker to handle his opponent’s onslaught while also possessing grappling skills that can help tire Cannonier out. This’ll likely be a longer contest, which benefits Vettori’s skill set.
At the moment, only moneyline bets are available for this fight, making a Vettori outright bet at -120 odds as the best option. Having said that, he’ll likely win by points due to the fact that Cannonier hasn’t been finished in over five years. Additionally, if you aren’t confident in either man, taking a neutral approach by backing the fight to go the distance works, too.
