The stars of the Ultimate Fighting Championship are back in Las Vegas for the second straight week for UFC Vegas 86 (UFC Fight Night 236) on Saturday, Feb. 10.
As with most UFC PPVs, there are a ton of betting opportunities available this weekend — especially when it comes to the eight-fight preliminary card.

Trevin Giles vs. Carlos Prates Prediction — Welterweight
- Trevin Giles (+210)
- Carlos Prates (-250)
Trevin Giles (16-5) is the underdog in this welterweight bout after dropping three of his last five fights. Meanwhile, Carlos Prates (17-6) is ready to make his highly-anticipated debut in Las Vegas.
Although Giles has more UFC experience, I’m taking the favorite to win. Prates has looked fantastic ahead of his debut, knocking out each of his last six opponents with four of those wins occurring in the opening frame. Meanwhile, Giles has been finished three times in his last five outings.
Considering how Giles has been susceptible to knockout blows, let’s take Prates to win by KO/TKO as the best bet.
Giles vs. Prates Pick: Giles via KO/TKO (-115)

Bolaji Oki vs. Timothy Cuamba Prediction — Lightweight
- Bolaji Oki (-180)
- Timothy Cuamba (+155)
“I’m here to stay and I’m going to make a statement.”
Bolaji Oki aims to establish himself in the lightweight division as he makes his @UFC debut at #UFCVegas86 ??

— UFC News (@UFCNews) February 7, 2024
Bolaji Oki (8-1) is also making his debut this weekend as he rolls into UFC Vegas 86 on an eight-fight winning streak. Standing in his way of another win is Timothy Cuamba (8-1), who’s taking the fight on short notice after visa issues prevented Damir Hadzovic from making it to the Apex.
It’s hard to go against Oki, who has finished six of his last opponents — including four first-round victories. At the same time, Cuamba is on a five-fight winning streak and has TKO’d three of his last four foes.
I’m going to take a neutral approach by betting that this fight won’t go the distance. These fighters have 10 finishes in 18 fights between them and will likely go all out to make the best impression possible in their respective debuts.
Oki vs. Cuamba Pick: Fight to Go the Distance? — No (-170)
Loma Lookboonmee vs. Bruna Brasil Prediction — Women’s Strawweight
- Loma Lookboonmee (-285)
- Bruna Brasil (+245)
Loma Lookboonmee (8-3) is the clear-cut favorite in this women’s strawweight bout after going 5-2 since making her UFC debut. Meanwhile, Bruna Brasil (9-3-1) hopes for more positive results after picking up a unanimous decision win over Shauna Bannon last July.
Brasil might have the size advantage in this tilt, but Lookboonmee has defeated tougher competition than her. She’s beaten the likes of Elise Reed, Denis Gomes, and Sam Hughes, whereas Brasil’s only UFC victory came against Bannon, who isn’t exactly a noteworthy opponent.
There’s a good chance that Lookboonmee will win this one by points. Six of her eight all-time wins came by some form of decision and she’s gone the distance in seven of her last eight fights. Besides, Brasil has only been finished once since 2019.
Lookboonmee vs. Brasil Pick: Lookboonmee via Points (+130)

Devin Clark vs. Marcin Prachnio Prediction — Light Heavyweight
- Devin Clark (-230)
- Marcin Prachnio (+195)
Devin Clark (14-8) hasn’t been the most consistent fighter lately, dropping four of his last six fights. Marcin Prachnio (16-7) has struggled to produce results, too, dropping to 3-5 in his last eight fights with a submission loss to Vitor Petrino at UFC 290.
It’s tough to make a pick when neither fighter has been performing well, however, I’m inclined to side with Clark this time around. His light heavyweight return has gone as planned, but he has a great opportunity to turn things around against Prachnio, who’s been finished four times in his past eight fights with three of those losses occurring in Round 1.
I’ll take another neutral bet here by saying that this fight won’t go the distance either. Only two of Clark’s last six fights went the distance while just seven of Prachnio’s previous 10 did so. With both men struggling to finish fights lately, I don’t expect a lengthy bout this weekend.
Clark vs. Prachnio Pick: Fight to Go the Distance? — No (+115)

UFC Vegas 86 Predictions: Hermansson vs. Pyfer Prelim Picks Cont.
Max Griffin vs. Jeremiah Wells Prediction — Welterweight
- Max Griffin (+129)
- Jeremiah Wells (-149)
Fans are in store for an exciting welterweight bout at the Apex. Max Griffin (19-10) hopes to build more momentum after going 4-2 in his last six fights while Jeremiah Wells (12-3-1) hopes to rebound from a technical submission loss to Carlston Harris back in August.
I can see this fight going either way. On one hand, Griffin has the striking advantage, averaging nearly twice as many significant strikes per minute with better accuracy on defense. On the other hand, Wells is the superior grappler and averages 3.89 takedowns and 1.2 submissions per 15 minutes.
At the end of the day, I’m backing Wells to win by points. Although he’s proven that he can finish the competition, Griffin is a tough competitor and hasn’t been finished since 2016. Considering how the underdog’s last four fights went the distance, I expect Wells to win by some form of decision.
Griffin vs. Wells Pick: Wells via Points (+200)

Zac Pauga vs. Bogdan Guskov Prediction — Light Heavyweight
- Zac Pauga (-129)
- Bogdan Guskov (+109)
#UFCVegas86 weigh-in results: Bogdan Guskov – (205.5)
Full coverage: https://t.co/64gOhfBHhL pic.twitter.com/LXIccYpbEy
— MMA Junkie (@MMAJunkie) February 9, 2024
Zac Pauga (6-2) heads into UFC Vegas 86 in dire need of a win after dropping two of three fights since making his debut. Victory won’t come easy, though, against Bogdan Guskov (14-3), who’s likely pissed off after being submitted by Volkan Oezdemir in his debut five months ago.
I’m not really a huge fan of betting on this fight, but I will take Guskov to pull off the upset. He’s nearly five years younger than Pauga and looked impressive leading up to his last fight, winning four straight matches via KO/TKO. I just don’t think that the favorite has the striking ability to stick around.
Let’s back Guskov to pull off the outright upset and move on.
Pauga vs. Guskov Pick: Guskov ML (+109)
Fernie Garcia vs. Hyder Amil Prediction — Featherweight
- Fernie Garcia (+169)
- Hyder Amil (-194)
Life has been difficult for Fernie Garcia (10-4), who’s lost three straight fights since making his UFC debut. Meanwhile, Hyder Amil (8-0) aims to remain undefeated after beginning his MMA career with eight consecutive victories.
With how Garcia has fought lately, I’m not going to overthink things here. Amil has more momentum on his side and is hungry to impress in his debut fight. Given the recent trend of Garcia’s losses, let’s back Amil to win via points.
Garcia vs. Amil Pick: Amil via Points (+115)
Daniel Marcos vs. Aoriqileng Prediction — Bantamweight
- Daniel Marcos (-270)
- Aoriqileng (+230)
Daniel Marcos (15-0) has yet to taste defeat, improving to 2-0 in the UFC with a split-decision win over Davey Grant back in July. It’ll be interesting to see how he fares against Aoriqileng (25-10) after the Mongolian defeated Johnny Munoz Jr. via unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 80.
Aoriqileng is a talented fighter and has more experience, but it’s tough to doubt the undefeated favorite this weekend. Marcos has fought perfectly for a reason and I don’t see that changing, especially when he has the better overall defense between both men.
Aoriqileng is a professional at avoiding a loss via finish, so look for Marcos to go the distance to get the job done.
Marcos vs. Aoriqileng Pick: Marcos via Points (+120)
