NASCAR Xfinity Series Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 Predictions & Picks

Last week was another winning Xfinity Series week for Joe Gibbs Racing, as Aric Almirola took the win at the DUDE Wipes 250 at Martinsville. Another trip to Victory Lane may be in the cards today for JGR at the Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 at Texas Motor Speedway (1:30 pm ET, FS1).

JGR has won four of the last five races, with Kyle Larson’s win in the Focused Health 250 at Circuit of the Americas breaking up the monopoly.

At Martinsville, JGR took three of the top six spots, with Chandler Smith finishing third and Sheldon Creed finishing sixth.

Just as Martinsville has been a place of success for JGR, Texas Motor Speedway has been as well.

This is the first time the Andy’s Frozen Custard 300, which began in 2005, has been held in the spring, but in the first 19 fall editions of the race, JGR went to Victory Lane eight times, more than any other team. Last year, John Hunter Nemechek made it four wins in five years for JGR and became just the fourth driver to win this race multiple times.

Three JGR drivers will start in the front four rows in this afternoon’s race, but it’s rookie Jesse Love who will start at the front for the third time this season.

2024 Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 Predictions & Picks

Love started on pole in the first two races of the season at Daytona and Atlanta, but this is the first time he has qualified in the top five since.

Will Love finish where he will start in the Andy’s Frozen Custard 300? After finishing 20^th, 12^th, and 17^th in the first three races, Love has recorded four consecutive top-ten finishes.

Two of those finishes are top-five finishes, a runner-up finish at Phoenix and a fifth-place finish at Richmond. Will he make it three this afternoon? At Bovada, he is +150 to finish in the top five. With how he has performed in his last four races, I like the value there.

Value wise, I also like Sammy Smith to finish in the top five today. I picked Smith to finish in the top five last week, and he was in contention to do so before finishing seventh. He has yet to finish in the top five this season, but he has five top-ten finishes and is the top-performing rookie in the series thus far.

Is he my pick to take the win at Texas? I’m sticking with JGR. Chandler Smith didn’t come through as my winner pick last week, coming in third behind Almirola and Sam Mayer, who had his best finish of the season at Martinsville. But I’m riding with the points leader to continue his fantastic start and pick up his third win of the season.
