The 19th race of the NASCAR Cup Series season will take place on Sunday in Atlanta, Georgia. It is the second stop in Atlanta this year for the drivers.
In the first race at Atlanta, William Byron took the #24 Chevrolet to victory lane in a wild finish. The race saw plenty of lead changes, and the final laps were wild. The reconfiguration of the track this season did not disappoint, and there is a new superspeedway feel to the historic track.
Ross Chastain, who finished second at Atlanta this spring, is the odds on favorite to claim his 3rd win of the season according to BetOnline. He will start second behind Chase Elliott who claimed the pole after qualifying was rained out.

Ross Chastain +950
Taking the favorite in this race may not be a bad idea. Chastain has already taken the checkered flag twice this season, and he finished in the runner-up spot in Atlanta earlier this year.
Chastain has the most Top 5s in the field, and he is tied for the lead in Top 10s. He will be running for his 5th straight Top 10 and 3rd straight Top 5. As a talented superspeedway driver,he is one of the most qualified racers in the field. His last win came at Talladega Superspeedway 9 races ago.
With the unpredictable nature of the new track layout, this weekend’s race provides great value across the board. Instead of the normal +400 or +500, this week’s favorite is listed at +950, and it would be smart to jump on it.
William Byron +1200
Byron is a dangerous racer on superspeedways. He already proved that he likes the layout at Atlanta, as he powered his way to victory lane in the spring race.
Byron will start 13th near the middle of the pack, so he will have to be careful and avoid accidents early in the race as drivers will jockey for position. Since his win at Martinsville 11 races ago, he only has one Top 10, so he will look for Atlanta to be his boost as the second half of the season gets underway.
Byron is a value pick at an unpredictable track. If he won once, he knows what it takes to repeat and sweep the season at Atlanta. +1200 provides great return on investment if the #24 Chevy makes its way back into the victory circle.
Daniel Suarez +2300
It may seem unlikely, but Suarez is actually a big threat at Atlanta. He finished 4th in the race earlier this year, and he had two Top 10 Stage finishes during the event. He ran up front all day, and made a push toward the end of the race to be a true contender.
Suarez won his first career race in June at Sonoma, and last week he had a Top 5 finish at Road America. If he can avoid a DNF, he has been having plenty of success throughout the season. He locked himself into the playoffs with a win, so now he will look to improve his position.
If you like to bet the underdog, give Suarez a look. He is improving every week, and with the unpredictable nature of the new Atlanta configuration, he may just be the key to a very big payday.
NASCAR at Atlanta Prediction and Pick
Quaker State 400 Prediction: Ross Chastain to win (+950 at BetOnline)
Chastain is always a smart pick, even if the payout is lower. A payout is better than no payout, and with his 2nd place finish earlier this season, I feel confident in the bet. He can race on superspeedways, and he will have a strong chance to to notch his 3rd victory at the halfway point of the season.
