One spot in the NASCAR Cup Series Championship 4 is locked down, as Joey Logano made the most of his new life by winning last week’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Will another spot be secured at today’s Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway (2:30 pm ET, NBC)?
Thanks to Alex Bowman’s disqualification in the final Round of 12 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Logano advanced to the Round of 8 after initially being eliminated. The two-time Cup Series champion will now have a chance for a third title after winning last Sunday’s South Point 400 ahead of Christopher Bell.
Who will join Logano in the Championship 4? Entering today’s festivities in south Florida, Bell, Kyle Larson, and William Byron are in the other three positions, with Denny Hamlin, regular season champion Tyler Reddick, 2023 Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney, and Chase Elliott on the outside looking in.
Current 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Standings (Entering the Straight Talk Wireless 400)
- Joey Logano – locked into the Championship 4 with a win
- Christopher Bell – 4086
- Kyle Larson – 4079
- William Byron – 4071
- Denny Hamlin – 4044
- Tyler Reddick – 4041
- Ryan Blaney – 4024
- Chase Elliott – 4018
Reddick, Blaney, and Elliott are in need of a bounce back after all finishing outside the top 30 last week, while Hamlin finished a respectable eighth but scored zero stage points.
Reddick, who won the first stage at Las Vegas before his race ended early in the second stage, will start on pole at Homestead, with Larson joining him in the front row. They sit atop the odds to win the race, followed by Bell and Hamlin, who occupy the second row.

Straight Talk Wireless 400 Predictions & Picks
Ryan Blaney to finish in the top five (+175 at Bovada)
Blaney finished 32nd last weekend, finishing eight laps down after being a part of the incident that resulted in Reddick and Elliott’s poor finishes.
Based on recent results, a second straight such result is highly, highly unlikely. He has finished outside the top 30 four times in the last eight races, and each of the three previous times, he finished 29 or more spots better in the next race. He will start 20th in today’s race, but expect him to be in a much more prominent position when the checkered flag flies.
Alex Bowman to finish in the top 10 (+125 at Bovada)
After dealing with the disappointment of missing out on the Round of 8, Bowman finished fifth last week, his fourth top-ten finish of the playoffs. His championship hopes may be done, but the way his hopes were ended could inspire a strong finish to the season.
Denny Hamlin to finish in the top five (+125 at Bovada)
Hamlin 2009, 2013, 2020) is one of three drivers to win this race three times, along with Greg Biffle (2004-2006) and Tony Stewart (1999, 2000, 2011).
A win would set him apart from that duo, and it would put him in the Championship 4 for the first time since 2021. That may or may not happen, but a top-five finish is a strong shout at the track where his title hopes took a major hit last year with a 30th-place finish.
Kyle Larson to win the Straight Talk Wireless 400
Larson won the final race in each of the first two rounds of the playoffs, but he is the pick to win the second race of this round.
The 2021 Cup Series champion has started second two other times this season, and he took the checkered flag both times, winning the first Las Vegas race and the playoff race at Bristol.
