See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe 2022-23 NBA Playoffs are in full swing with more action lined up for Thursday, April 20. One of the more intriguing showdowns features the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets playing Game 3 of their series. Philadelphia currently holds a 2-0 series lead, meaning it has a chance to push Brooklyn to the brink of elimination if it can exit tonight’s 76ers vs Nets matchup with a win.
The 76ers’ defense was on point, once again, in Game 2 as they shut down the Nets in a 96-84 victory. Tyrese Maxey led the charge for Philadelphia, finishing with a game-high 33 points while Joel Embiid (20 points, 19 rebounds) and Tobias Harris (20 points, 12 rebounds) each contributed with double-doubles.
Can the 76ers move one step closer to advancing to the next round? Or will the Nets find a way to force at least one more contest?

76ers vs Nets Game 3 Preview
The Nets return to Barclays Center hoping for better results after their offensive was virtually non-existent in Philadelphia.
The 76ers’ defense has absolutely smothered the Nets thus far, holding the latter to a 92.5 PPG clip on .460/.355/.656 shooting splits through the first two encounters. It certainly doesn’t help that Brooklyn is already averaging 14.0 turnovers per game in the series.
Even with the home-court advantage on their side now, I have a tough time imagining the Nets bouncing back. After all, they were held to an abysmal 37.5% field-goal percentage in Game 2. A poor shooting performance like that makes it tough to win against any team — especially a championship contender like the Sixers.
The Nets’ chances of success diminish even more if they continue being dominated in the paint. The 76ers have outrebounded them 94-68 after two games, led by Joel Embiid, who’s averaging 12.0 RPG. As good as Nic Claxton is, it’s evident that he’s no match for Embiid in the paint.
Speaking of the NBA MVP candidate, I don’t see Embiid slowing down any time soon. He’s averaging 29.3 points and 11.1 rebounds in his last 12 games against the Nets. Even if he does have a quieter-than-usual performance, Brooklyn still has to worry about shutting down Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris and James Harden.
In theory, a return to Brooklyn should benefit the Nets, but that might not be the case. The Nets have an uninspiring 5-10 record in their last 15 matchups against the 76ers at Barclays Center, having lost each of the last three by an average margin of 13.3 points.
The two sides last met at Barclays Center on April 9, resulting in a massive 134-105 victory for the 76ers. What’s even more impressive is that Philadelphia achieved that win without Embiid, Maxey, Harden and Harris in the lineup. With the quarter playing tonight, things could be even uglier.
The 76ers being 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games also increases their chances of success tonight. For reference, the Nets are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games, as well as 1-7 ATS in its previous eight outings against an Atlantic Division foe.
Although you can never say never in sports, it’s hard to have much faith in the Nets this evening.
76ers vs Nets Prediction and Picks
76ers vs Nets Prediction: 76ers 114, Nets 102
76ers vs Nets Picks: Nets -4.5 (Best Value: -110 at BetOnline)
Even with the series shifting to Brooklyn, the result should be the same. The 76ers have looked absolutely dominant in this series, having the talent and depth advantages over the Nets. I suspect that Philadelphia will cover the 4.5-point spread. On top of being successful in covering the spread on the road, Philly has also done so in four of the last five 76ers vs Nets matchups.
Best 76ers vs Nets Prop Bet
Joel Embiid — Over 11.5 Rebounds (-102)
After Tuesday’s 19-board performance, I like Joel Embiid hitting the over on his rebounding prop tonight.
First of all, Embiid has finished with 12-plus rebounds in three of his last six games. He’s also averaging 11.8 RPG in his last five encounters with the Nets (who allow the 14th-most rebounds to centers), ending with the over three times.
After the Nets surrendered 56 rebounds to the 76ers two nights ago, Embiid shouldn’t have an issue ending the night with more than 11.5 boards.
