The Bulls enter this game aiming to stop their losing ways. They’ve lost back-to-back games already for the second time this season, having lost their lost outing against the Philadelphia 76ers by a final score of 114-109.

Meanwhile, the Nets snapped a four-game losing streak with a 116-109 victory against the Indiana Pacers on Monday. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving combined for 64 points on the night while Nic Claxton finished with 19 points, nine rebounds and four blocks.

The Nets’ 2022 season hasn’t been going as planned, but Monday’s win over the Pacers could be the start of better things. Fortunately, the former has a great opportunity to build on their newfound momentum when they host the Bulls.

After all, the Nets have won six of their last nine outings against the Bulls. Things only look more impressive when you realize that Brooklyn is also 7-2 in its last nine home games against Chicago, proving just how the road team has struggled at the Barclays Center over the last five or so years.

If the Nets want to be victorious again, one thing to do is to take advantage of the Bulls’ injury situation. Andre Drummond has already been ruled out of the game due to injury and his absence will certainly be felt. He’s averaging 10.2 rebounds per game this season, meaning Brooklyn’s frontcourt will have a much easier time in the paint tonight.

Zach LaVine, Ayo Dosunmu and Colby White are day-to-day with their own respective ailments as well. Considering how the Bulls have a game against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, it’ll be interesting to see who head coach Billy Donovan plays and rests with that in mind.

Meanwhile, the Nets don’t have nearly as many injuries. Seth Curry has already been ruled out, but he’s barely made an impact this season considering how he’s only played one game. Ben Simmons is also day-to-day and just missed Monday’s game with knee soreness, leaving time to tell if he’ll be good to go to face the Bulls.

At the end of the day, the key for the Bulls to be victorious here is to hit their three-pointers. Though Chicago averages the sixth-fewest threes made, the team’s 36.3% success rate from beyond the arc is tied for the 12th-best in the Association.

Meanwhile, the Nets allow 14.7 threes per game (second-worst) on a 41.4% success rate (fourth-worst). With potentially no Simmons on defense or Curry to help keep up with the opposition from range, Brooklyn could be in trouble if the Bulls are consistent from the perimeter.

Taking this into account, I’m actually pulling the Bulls to pull off an upset here. Neither team is perfect, but Chicago’s players seem to be on the same page, buying into what Donovan is saying. At the same time, the Nets seem completely dysfunctional and aren’t playing a team brand of basketball. It just isn’t healthy to rely on Durant and Irving every night.

Taking the Bulls at +1.5 on the spread is definitely a bet worth considering. If you want a bit more value, then take Chicago at +102 on the moneyline. I’m also advocating for the total hitting the under seeing as both offences rank in the bottom half of the league, along with the total hitting the under in six of the last seven Bulls vs Nets clashes.
