Heat vs. 76ers Game 6 Betting: Back Underdog Heat to Eliminate 76ers

The list of 2021-22 NBA playoff games lined up for Thursday, May 12 includes Game 6 of the Miami Heat vs. Philadelphia 76ers series.

After back-to-back losses in Games 3 and 4, the Heat regained control of the series with a huge 120-85 victory on Tuesday night. Miami is looking to deliver the final blow tonight and they could use a similar effort to accomplish that task.

The good news for the 76ers is that they’re 4-1 in five games at Wells Fargo Center this postseason. They’re going to need the Philadelphia faithful’s support once again if a Game 7 is to happen.

Can Heat Keep Game 5 Momentum Rolling?

Many questioned the Heat’s legitimacy after losing back-to-back games to the 76ers on the road. Fortunately, they dispelled those rumors with a dominant Game 5 effort and must figure out a way to solve the 76ers in Philadelphia.

Jimmy Butler will be counted on to show up again. He did a little bit of everything on Tuesday, finishing with 23 points, nine rebounds, six assists and a steal while shooting .600 from the field.

Butler is now averaging 26.6 PTS/7.4 REB/5.8 AST/1.8 STL this series and is one of the key reasons why the Heat have the 3-2 lead. The 76ers can’t shut him down consistently, which is why he needs another strong performance.

Max Strus also had a solid game with 19 points on a .538 FG% while shooting 4-of-10 from the three-point line. He also added 10 rebounds for the first double-double of his career.

Meanwhile, players such as Victor Oladipo and Caleb Martin had solid defensive games off the bench, ending the night with two steals apiece.

At the end of the day, the Heat must play better than they did in their previous two visits to Philadelphia. They averaged only 93.5 PPG on .409/.215/.827 over that stretch, which isn’t good enough to consistently win games in today’s NBA.

If Miami can get more solid play from its starting five while having the bench players continue to chip in, there’s a good chance that this series could be over tonight.

76ers’ Offense Must Wake Up to Prevent Elimination

The 76ers are likely embarrassed by their poor offensive showing in Game 5 and must figure out a way to start Game 6 on a strong note.

One of the reasons why Philadelphia lost the last game was because its players shot .365 from the field and .281 from beyond the arc.

It certainly didn’t help that one of the team’s offensive players — Tyrese Maxey — shot 2-of-10 from the field, finishing with only nine points and a minus-25 rating.

Superstars James Harden and Joel Embiid were far from good either, combining for only 31 points on 12-of-25 shooting. Each player was also a team-worst minus-29, which isn’t something 76ers fans want to see from their two supposed leaders.

Obviously, it’s easier to excuse Embiid’s play due to his wearing of a protective mask because of his orbital fracture. Nevertheless, he’s now extra motivated after losing the 2021-22 NBA MVP award to Nikola Jokic. Perhaps he’ll be able to dig deep enough to take over the game himself.

The 76ers also need Matisse Thybulle to be better than he has been. He’s supposed to be his team’s top perimeter defender, but he hasn’t done that good of a job this series. He’s also dealing with a foot injury, making it interesting to see if he’ll even play tonight.

Regardless, the 76ers must start this game with their foot on the pedal. They were outscored 31-19 in the first quarter of Game 5 and can’t risk a similar performance if they want to keep their hopes alive.

The Heat looked like the more complete team in Game 5 while the 76ers’ injuries are preventing them from playing at their top level. Even though Philadelphia has been successful at home this series, look for Miami to end it.
