<p>Dallas welcomes an Eastern Conference NBA foe from Charlotte. Two exciting perimeter threats in Kyrie Irving and LaMelo Ball clash in a rare meeting. The Mavericks and Hornets are both on losing streaks. One of these teams is playing &#8220;Capture the Flagg&#8221; and the other needs to decide what it wants to do. Let&#8217;s talk hoops.</p>

<p>The Mavericks started post-trade tasting the sweet life but things have quickly soured. They must now decide if they will try to make the playoffs or pack it all in. They are 5-5 in their last 10 while giving up 117.2 points per game while only scoring 112.9. Jason Kidd is a excellent coach but Dallas might be broken. Can Kyrie Irving drag this 9th seed into the playoffs?</p>

<p>The Hornets have been horrible. They are 2-8 in their last 10 while shooting just 40.1% from the field as a team. Opponents are scoring 116.4 points a game while the Hornets are only mustering 97.9 points for themselves in that same stretch. This team did steal a win inside of Crypto.com Arena. So, they still have a pulse even though it is fading fast. However, they have lost their last three games by 131 points. Pulse, or no pulse, this team is the Michael Jordan of losing right now.</p>
<h3>NBA Game Analysis</h3>
<p>How can the Hornets win? LaMelo Ball. The Hornets have one win without their star. They are 13-23 with him in the lineup. He has scored under 20 points in just one of those wins where he scored 19. This team is not constructed to win now but Ball is a All-Star talent. If you think the Hornets can cover then LaMelo Ball&#8217;s points will be needed and his line of 23.5 on most sports books feels comfortable.</p>

<p>Also, Dallas continues to be dealing with injuries and will be playing incredibly small. Mark Williams might be able to exploit their size and finish at the rim while cleaning the glass. In Dallas&#8217; last game, the Lakers lone big was Jaxson Hayes, he had 8 &amp; 8 while being +8 in only 17 minutes. The Hornets are tied for 3rd in second chance points, 3rd in offensive rebounding and Dallas is 29th in offensive rebounds allowed.</p>
<p>It&#8217;ll be up to former Hornet PJ Washington to limit Charlotte&#8217;s rebounding opportunities.</p>
<p>The Mavericks will likely come out ready to jump on the Hornets. If they still have designs on the playoffs then they&#8217;ll want to attempt to climb out of the play-in. That starts with winning this relatively easy game. They have 5 wins in their last 6 home games. If Dallas catches an L here then the locker room may start to divid and succumb to the injuries and pressures of this unprecedented season.</p>

I&#8217;m hoping the Mavericks take out their frustrations on Charlotte tonight and that likely means a lot of Irving. The Hornets defensive scheme chases players off the perimeter. Kyrie should pick this game plan apart because of his insane ball handling and ability to draw and kick.</p>
