Sitting three games below .500, the Warriors desperately need a win at home. Their early road woes have made it hard for them to find momentum this season, meaning they need everybody to step up with the Knicks coming to town on Friday.

New York has picked up wins in five of its last eight games, going 4-1 on the road in the process. Julius Randle has stepped his game up over that eight-game stretch, averaging 24.5 points and 9.0 rebounds. Jalen Brunson has also been living up to his contract, putting up 21.4 points and 7.0 assists per game over that stretch as well.

Having said that, the Knicks do have to deal with an angry Stephen Curry. The Warriors superstar just dropped 50 points in the loss to the Suns, giving him his fourth 39-plus point performance in his last six outings.

The truth is that as good as Curry is, Wednesday’s loss proved that he can’t get the job done on his own. The Warriors need the supporting cast to step up — especially Klay Thompson.

Thompson’s season-long struggles have continued, highlighted by his career-worst .351/.330/.813 shooting splits. The good news is that he’s averaged 20.5 points with a 42.3% three-point percentage in 16 all-time games against the Knicks, making this the perfect game for the 32-year-old to bounce back.

Furthermore, Golden State has also won 12 of the last 15 Knicks vs Warriors meetings.

Even more good news for the Warriors is that the Knicks boast one of the worst three-point defenses in the league. Opponents are averaging 14.1 three-points (second-most) on a 35.3% success rate (No. 15) against New York, however, that percentage has increased to 40.2% over the team’s last three games.

With Golden State being a top-10 three-point shooting team, it’s hard to find a more favorable matchup. As long as shooters like Curry, Thompson and Jordan Poole do their thing, the Warriors should continue finding success at Chase Center.

Another thing that gives the Warriors an advantage is that the Knicks have been playing a lot of basketball lately. This game is New York’s third in the last four days, whereas this will be Golden State’s second in that span.

At the end of the day, I’m going with the Warriors winning. They’ve found their groove at home and a lack of rest makes the Knicks vulnerable. Still, the latter is a solid team this season and I have them keeping it close, so give me the Knicks at +7 on the spread.

I’m also going with the under as another solid bet to make. The total has gone under in each of New York’s last five road games, as well as in fur of Golden State’s last five. That’s a trend I expect to continue in tonight’s Knicks vs Warriors tilt.
