There are two NBA on ESPN national broadcasts scheduled for Wednesday, March 13, including a showdown between the Los Angeles Lakers (36-30) and Sacramento Kings (37-27) at 10 p.m. ET.
The Lakers were last in action on Sunday, picking up a 120-109 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves behind Anthony Davis’ 27-point, 25-rebound double-double. Meanwhile, the Kings are coming off a 129-94 victory against the Milwaukee Bucks last night, leaving time to tell if they can build off that momentum.
These Pacific Division does are also neck-and-neck in the Western Conference standings with Sacramento only being two games ahead of Los Angeles. Will that gap close or widen this evening?
Time will tell, but in the meantime let’s get into my Lakers vs. Kings betting predictions and best bets.

Lakers vs Kings Prediction & NBA Picks Today (3/13):
The Lakers are playing some of their best basketball of the season, going 12-5 SU across their last 17 games. Having said that, it’s still somewhat surprising to see them as road favorites over the Kings tonight.
After all, the Lakers haven’t had any luck against their divisional rivals this year, losing each of their first three encounters with the Kings. Los Angeles’ main issue in those games was a lack of consistent defense, highlighted by it allowing Sacramento to average 129.0 points whereas Darvin Ham’s team only put up 119.0 PPG.
Nevertheless, the Lakers have now lost seven of their last eight games against the Kings dating back to the 2021-22 campaign. If that isn’t a bad look on its own, Los Angeles is also 1-3 SU with a minus-6.5 average scoring margin in its last four trips to Sacramento.
You also only need to go back exactly one week to when the Kings defeated the Lakers by a 130-120 final score in a game that saw the latter blow a 19-point lead.
The Lakers also haven’t been that great on the road in general this season. Not only are they 12-19 SU in 31 previous away contests, but the Lakers have only won four of 10 instances where they were the road favorites.
On the flip side, the Kings have only been the home underdog twice this season, winning one of those games. In fact, their 47.6% winning percentage as the underdog this season — regardless of location — ranks sixth-best in the association. That’s without mentioning how they’re also 13-8 ATS when the odds aren’t in their favor.
Speaking of the spread, the Lakers are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 Wednesday games and 1-7 ATS across their last eight meetings with the Kings. Additionally, Los Angeles has covered the spread twice in its last seven divisional matchups whereas Sacramento is 4-2 ATS in its last six games against the Pacific Division.
The Lakers have struggled to cover the spread when facing the Kings this season.
The Lakers are playing great, but I wouldn’t underestimate the Kings. Sacramento has had its rival’s number this season and even though it wouldn’t be shocking if the Lakers won, it’d also be unsurprising if the Kings pulled off the upset.
With that in mind, I’m staying neutral by taking the Over on the 238-point total. For starters, the Over is 5-1 in the Lakers’ last six games while the Kings’ four previous outings saw an average of 237.3 PPG — close to tonight’s projected total.
Additionally, the Over is 7-2 across the last nine Lakers-Kings matchups with 238 points being excited in four of the last six meetings. Considering how the rivals already surpassed that number twice this season, I expect it to happen for a third time on Wednesday.

Best Lakers vs Kings NBA Prop Bet (3/13)
With plenty of points expected to be on the board tonight, I’m taking LeBron James o8.5 assists for the best Lakers vs. Kings player prop bet.

LeBron is one of the best passers in the Association and that skill has been on display lately. The 39-year-old veteran is averaging 9.9 assists across his last 10 outings, finishing with nine or more seven times — including in four of his last five games. Even when he failed to hit the mark during that stretch, the four-time NBA MVP still came close with exactly eight assists each time.
The Over is also 4-2 in LeBron’s last six meetings with the Kings, which includes tallying at least 12 helpers in the last two encounters.
