— Cleveland Cavaliers (@cavs) April 17, 2024
The Cavaliers managed to take the 1-0 series lead with a low-scoring 97-83 victory on Saturday. The Magic didn’t have an answer for Donovan Mitchell, who scored a game-high 30 points while shooting 11-for-21 (52.3%) from the floor.
Can the Cavs take a 2-0 lead before the series shifts to Orlando? Or will the Magic find a way to even things up?
Let’s discuss tonight’s potential winner and the best NBA surrounding the action by getting into my Magic vs. Cavaliers predictions and picks.

Magic vs Cavaliers Game 2 Predictions & NBA Picks Today (4/22)
It goes without saying that the Cavaliers completely smothered the Magic in Game 1. They couldn’t get anything going as they were held to just 83 points while shooting 32.6% from the floor and 21.6% from deep. Struggles down low played a role in Orlando’s offensive shortcomings, being outscored 48-36 in the point.
While their offensive effort wasn’t exactly perfect either, the Cavaliers at least shot 44.4% from the field without trailing for a single second. Mitchell was the driving force for that success, but Cleveland’s other key players stepped up, too, as Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and Darius Garland each scored 14-plus points with at least a 50.0 FG%.
Another area where Cleveland excelled was on the glass. The Cavaliers easily outrebounded the Magic 54-40 as Allen led the charge with a game-high 18 rebounds while Mobley wasn’t much further behind with 11 of his own.
For reference, there wasn’t an Orlando player with more than seven boards.
Jarrett Allen led all players in Game 1 with 18 rebounds.
While the Magic shouldn’t be underestimated, there are plenty of things working against them. For starters, they’re now 1-4 ATS in their last five games as well as 3-9 ATS in their 12 previous contests played in April. That’s without mentioning how they’ve failed to cover the spread in five consecutive road outings.
The Cavaliers haven’t been perfect at covering the spread lately, but they’re still 7-1 ATS in their last eight games played on a Monday. Cleveland has also found a ton of recent success against Orlando, winning seven of the last nine meetings between these opponents.
Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse has also been an unwelcoming location for the Magic, who are 1-6 SU on their last seven trips to Cleveland. Orlando only averaged 98.7 points in those games while being outscored by an average of 8.3 PPG.
Injury-wise, the Magic are entering Game 2 with a clean bill of health while Dean Wade (knee), Ty Jerome (ankle), and Craig Porter (ankle) have all been ruled out for the Cavaliers.
Do the Magic have what it takes to pull off a rare road win in Cleveland?
After the Magic’s offensive debacle in Game 1, I’m taking the Cavaliers to win tonight. Cleveland was the much better team on Saturday and I don’t see Orlando turning things around that quickly — especially when you consider the Magic’s recent road struggles.
And if Orlando’s offensive issues continue, I won’t be surprised if Cleveland covers the 5.5-point spread. Again, the Magic are struggling to keep games close and have gone five road outings in a row without covering the spread. Considering how the Cavaliers are 4-2 ATS in the last six games between these teams, another lopsided affair could be on the horizon.

Best Magic vs Cavaliers NBA Game 2 Prop Bet (4/22)
After having a strong Game 1 performance, we’re taking Jarrett Allen to recover over 14.5 points (-117) for the best Magic vs. Cavaliers Game 2 prop bet.

Allen has been playing some of his better basketball of the year lately, averaging 18.2 points on 67.4% shooting across his last 12 games. He finished nine of those contests with at least 15 points, including his 16-point effort against Orlando to open the series. In fact, the Over is now 5-1 in his last six home games against the Magic.
As long as the Cavaliers stick to their game plan, Allen is in a good position to come through on this prop for the second straight game.
