See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe 2022-23 NBA season continues on Thursday, Oct. 27 with another slate of exciting matchups. One tilt is a star-studded affair as the Dallas Mavericks pay a visit to the Brooklyn Nets at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Mavericks could use a bounce-back win following a 113-111 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans earlier this week. Dallas is now 0-2 on the road this season, so it’ll be interesting to see how Jason Kidd gets his team to overcome those struggles tonight.
Meanwhile, tonight’s game marks the Nets’ third outing in the last four days. They lost to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday before suffering a 110-99 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday night. Needless to say, Brooklyn could use a victory here.
There’s a lot to take in before Thursday’s Mavericks vs Nets game. Fortunately, Betting News has gathered the game’s odds while also having a prediction and best bet for tonight’s contest.

Dallas Mavericks vs Brooklyn Nets Prediction and Picks
Mavericks vs Nets Prediction: Mavericks 114, Nets 103
Mavericks vs Nets Picks: Mavericks -2.5 (Best Value: -110 at BetOnline) & Under 226 Points (Best Value: -112 at BetOnline)
There’s no beating around the bush: the Nets haven’t been good this season. Sure, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant have been averaging 27.3 and 32.3 points per game, respectively, but they haven’t been getting much help outside of that.
The next best clip on the time is Nic Claxton at 12.8 PPG. That’s a significant drop-off. Joe Harris was supposed to provide perimeter shooting as he has in the past, but the veteran sharpshooter is only averaging 4.7 PPG while shooting 29.4% from the field.
Ben Simmons has also been dreadful in his first full-time season as a Net. He leads the team with an average of 4.5 personal fouls, putting up 5.3 PPG on .450/.000/.333 shooting splits.
All in all, this isn’t a team that looks like an NBA Championship contender.
Even though the Mavericks are below .500 at the moment, they’ve been getting contributions up and down their lineup. Unsurprisingly, Luka Doncic has been his team’s leader once again, averaging 34.7 points, 9.0 rebounds and 7.7 assists thus far.
Christian Wood has done well in his first season with the Mavs, averaging 24.3 PPG while shooting 62.2% from the field and 61.5% from three-point range. With how the Nets have been susceptible to their opponents stretching the floor, Dallas needs Wood to continue his hot start.
It’s also worth pointing out that the Nets have lost four of their last five games against the Mavericks. While Dallas has averaged 112.6 PPG over that five-game stretch, Brooklyn was only operating on a 106.2 PPG clip. It’s not a huge difference, but it’s one worth noting.
Furthermore, the Nets have lost eight of their last 11 home games against the Mavericks. Brooklyn hasn’t beaten Dallas at the Barclays Center in nearly four years, leaving time to tell if things will be different on Thursday.
At the end of the day, I expect that the Mavericks will continue their success against the Nets. Though Brooklyn does have Irving and Durant, there’s only so much that the dynamic duo can accomplish on their own. Until the likes of Simmons and Harris start operating on a consistent basis, it’s going to be hard to trust the Nets.
The Nets have also lost each of their last two games by 11 points apiece, so covering the 2.5-point spread shouldn’t be too difficult for the Mavericks.
Having said that, the total has hit the under in four of the last six Mavericks vs Nets games. Furthermore, the total has also hit the under in 12 of Brooklyn’s last 18 games. In other words, I’m more confident in the under being hit again on Thursday.
