Don’t look now, but Gregg Popovich has his San Antonio Spurs team making another run in the Western Conference. The Spurs have won four straight games to get back into a playoff spot in the West, and they won’t be an easy out in the playoffs. San Antonio will host the NBA-leading Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday night in what will be a contrast of styles. Milwaukee loves to play fast and put up a ton of points, while the Spurs are content with playing slow and winning games on defense.
Milwaukee was able to snap a brief two-game losing streak with an impressive victory over the Indiana Pacers in their previous game. The Bucks continue to have the best record in the NBA at 49-16 and lead the Pacers by more than seven games in the Central Division. The recent four-game winning streak by the Spurs has their record to 37-29 on the season, and they trail the Houston Rockets by just 3.5 games in the Southwest Division. San Antonio is trying to improve their playoff seeding before the end of the season. The Bucks are -3.0 over the Spurs in this game.
Bucks Offense Continues to Produce
The Milwaukee Bucks have been putting up huge numbers on offense all season long, and they have a ton of weapons on that side of the ball. Milwaukee is averaging 117.3 points per game this season, which is second only to the Golden State Warriors. The Bucks are the best rebounding team in the NBA, and they aren’t afraid to push the ball up the court and look for early offense. Milwaukee is shooting better than 35 percent from the three-point line, and they aren’t afraid to shoot them with regularity.
All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has been the main star for the Milwaukee Bucks this season and is putting up monster numbers. The “Greek Freak” leads the team with 27.0 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game, and is capable of putting up a triple-double every night out. Forward Khris Middleton has chipped in with more than 17 points per game this season and was rewarded with a trip to the All-Star Game in February. The Bucks don’t have a ton of playoff experience, but their entire roster has been great this season.
Spurs Tough to Beat at Home
The San Antonio Spurs went through a brutal road trip recently, winning just one time in their eight games played. But since the Spurs have returned home, they have been tough to beat. San Antonio has posted a 25-7 record in home games this season, and they will be ready for the explosive Bucks. The Spurs are scoring 111.9 points per game so far this season while giving up just 111.0 points per night. San Antonio doesn’t have the best stats in the league, but they know how to win games.
DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge have been the two main stars for the Spurs so far this season. DeRozan leads the team with 21.4 points and 6.1 assists per game and looks extremely comfortable in his first season in Texas. Aldridge has chipped in with 21.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game this season and is a real leader for the Spurs. San Antonio will play guys that you have probably never heard of, but they know how to win.
San Antonio Slows Down Bucks
Milwaukee wants to get out an run on offense, but that isn’t always easy to do against the Spurs. Popovich is arguably the best coach in the NBA, and he will have something drawn up to stop the “Greek Freak.” The Spurs are playing with a ton of confidence at the moment, and they will get their fifth straight win in this game. Bet the San Antonio Spurs +3.0 over the Milwaukee Bucks.
