NBA Emirates Cup 2024: Tournament Bracket, Odds, Format, & FAQ

The 2023-24 Los Angeles Lakers made history last season when they became the first team to win the NBA In-Season Tournament. There’s another in-season free-for-all for the 2024-25 campaign beginning on Tuesday, Nov. 12, however, it’s known as the newly rebranded NBA Emirates Cup.
All 30 NBA franchises will compete against each other across several dozen total tournament games beginning tonight. The Emirates Cup winners will then be decided when the finals are held at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

NBA Emirates Cup Group Bracket & Format
The NBA Emirates Cup begins on Tuesday night with the start of the group play stage. The 30 franchises have been randomly divided into six groups of five based on their conference and 2023-24 season win-loss record. From now until Dec. 3, each Tuesday and Friday night will be dedicated evenings for NBA Cup games, and teams will face each of their group mates.

The knockout stage of the NBA Emirates Cup will commence after the group play portion ends. Eight teams will make it to the single-game elimination round — the best team from each division along with one wild card from each conference — that begins with the quarterfinals on Dec. 10. The semifinals will be played on Dec. 14 before the the finals go down in Las Vegas on Dec. 17.

When is the NBA Emirates Cup?
- The NBA Emirates Cup begins on Tuesday, Nov. 12, and finishes on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
Who won the last NBA Emirates Cup?
- The last (and first) NBA Emirates Cup was won by the 2023-24 Los Angeles Lakers. They defeated the Indiana Pacers, 123-109, in the finals at T-Mobile Arena to win the inaugural in-season tournament.
How were the NBA Emirates Cup groups decided?
- The NBA Cup groups were decided by a random draw based on each of the 30 teams’ conferences and 2023-24 season record.
Do NBA Emirates Cup games count towards the 2024-25 regular season?
- Group play and certain knockout stage games — the quarterfinals and semifinals — will count toward the 2024-25 NBA regular season standings. Having said that, the NBA Cup finals will not count for the participants’ records.
Is there a prize for the NBA Emirates Cup?
- Yes, prizes will be handed out throughout the tournament. The winning team will receive a $500,000 prize while $200,000 will go to the NBA Emirates Cup runners-up. Semifinals participants will net $100,000 on top of the $50,000 that goes to quarterfinal teams.
