See Picks & Statistics For The GameFriday, Dec. 16’s NBA schedule is filled to the brim with 10 exciting matchups, including a showdown north of the border between the Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors. This is also the fourth and final Nets vs Raptors matchup this regular season and after Brooklyn won the previous three, only time will tell if Toronto can get its win back tonight.
Despite a bumpy start to the season, the Nets have looked more like a contender over their last nine games. They’re 8-1 over that stretch and have won each of their last four ahead of this matchup. Brooklyn hasn’t been in action since Monday’s 112-100 victory over the Washington Wizards, so it’ll be interesting to see if the rest helps or hurts the former’s performance.
Meanwhile, the losses have been piling up for the Raptors. Toronto has lost six of its last eight games and is riding a three-game streak entering tonight. Nick Nurse’s squad blew a 16-point lead in Wednesday’s 124-123 loss to the Sacramento Kings, highlighting the importance of a full 48-minute showing against the Nets tonight.
There’s a lot to take in before Friday’s Nets vs Raptors game. Fortunately, Betting News has gathered the game’s odds while also having a prediction and best bet for tonight’s contest.

Brooklyn Nets vs Toronto Raptors Prediction and Picks
Nets vs Raptors Prediction: Nets 116, Raptors 105
Nets vs Raptors Picks: Nets -1.5 (Best Value: -110 at BetOnline) & Under 226.5 Points (Best Value: -110 at BetOnline)
One of the reasons why the Raptors have been losing so much lately is because of their inconsistent offense. Though they’re averaging 111.3 points this season (No. 19), they’ve been held to fewer than 111 points in five of their last eight outings.
Fred VanVleet has been one of Toronto’s struggling players, averaging 17.0 points on .359/.219/.864 shooting in his last eight games. He did have a 39-point effort against the Kings two nights ago, but it remains to be seen if that was an anomaly or not.
Even Pascal Siakam has struggled to shoot the ball, hitting only 30.0% of his three-pointers over that span. Scottie Barnes hasn’t even been his usual self, recording a team-worst 23 turnovers and a minus-47 rating during Toronto’s skid.
Meanwhile, the Nets have been firing on all cylinders lately. In addition to going 8-1 in their last nine games, they’ve also been averaging a whopping 122.5 PPG in their last four games.
Unsurprisingly, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant have been the stars of the show. Irving and Durant are averaging exactly 30 and 31 points, respectively, over their last three games. When that dynamic duo is hot, there’s little that can be done to slow them down, meaning the Raptors could be in trouble if their defense isn’t up to snuff.
Having said that, the Raptors have kept Durant locked down this season. He only averaged 18.7 PPG in the three collisions thus far, however, it didn’t end up mattering since the Nets still won all three games.
Even with Toronto having won eight of its last 11 home games, it doesn’t matter since Brooklyn has won three of its last four trips to Scotiabank Arena. One of those visits was a 112-98 victory back on Nov. 23 in a game that saw the Raptors shoot just 35.6% from the field and 24.1% from three-point range.
At the end of the day, there are just too many things working against the Raptors. They’re only 1-5 ATS in their last six home games against the Nets, who happen to be 4-2 ATS in their last six road games.
Furthermore, Toronto will also be without OG Anunoby, who’s out for at least one week with a hip injury. Since 2020, the Raptors have a losing record (42.6%) when Anunoby is sidelined and have lost both games that he’s already missed this campaign.
I also predict that this will be a low-scoring game, so back the under on the 226.5-point total. Each of the three previous Nets vs Raptors tilts fell short of that mark and there’s little reason for it to be surpassed with how poor Toronto’s offense has looked lately.
