See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe 2022-23 NBA season rages on with a new slate of games for Thursday, Nov. 17, including a showdown between the Brooklyn Nets and Portland Trail Blazers. Both teams have been performing differently than expected for different reasons this season, making it interesting to see who wins this Nets vs Trail Blazers tilt.
The Nets enter this matchup having lost back-to-back games, including an embarrassing 153-121 defeat to the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday. Brooklyn looked sluggish throughout the game and the defense clearly wasn’t there, leaving many to wonder how Kevin Durant and co. will respond.
On the flip side, the Trail Blazers have looked impressive, going 4-1 straight up in their last five outings. They were successful with a 117-110 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, led by Jereami Grant recording a 29-point showing on 9-of-15 shooting.
There’s a lot to take in before Thursday’s Nets vs Trail Blazers game. Fortunately, Betting News has gathered the game’s odds while also having a prediction and best bet for tonight’s contest.

Brooklyn Nets vs Portland Trail Blazers Prediction and Picks
Nets vs Trail Blazers Prediction: Trail Blazers 113, Nets 104
Nets vs Trail Blazers Picks: Trail Blazers -2.5 (Best Value: -110 at BetOnline) & Under 220 Points (Best Value: -110 at BetOnline)
The Nets have been one of the most disappointing teams this season. While their recent woes can be attributed to Kyrie Irving’s absence, it’s also worth mentioning that they weren’t exactly doing great before the team suspended him.
Outside of Kevin Durant, there’s just no reason to really like the Nets. The two-time NBA Champion even made this clear in an interview on Wednesday, which might only further divide the Brooklyn locker room.
The Nets also haven’t had much success on the road. They’ve lost three of their last four games away from Barclays Center and are only averaging 109.6 PPG on the road — 13th-worst in the NBA.
Now, Brooklyn has to go up against a Portland team that’s been among the hottest in the Association. Though the Trail Blazers haven’t been blowing opponents out in their recent successful run, they’ve been a top-10 team when it comes to both field-goal (49.1%, No. 8) and three-point percentage (39.9%, No. 8) over that stretch.
Someone who’s really been stepping up for the Blazers has been Grant. The veteran forward is averaging 29.0 PTS/7.0 REB/2.3 AST on .569/.606/.737 shooting in that span, which is some of his best basketball in a long time.
Grant hasn’t been doing it by himself, though. Damian Lillard has been up to his usual antics, averaging 24.0 points and 9.0 assists in his last four games. Even Anfernee Simons has been a plus contributor, putting up 22.8 PPG while shooting 38.2% from beyond the arc.
Not only have the Trail Blazers been recently successful, but they’ve also had the Nets’ number in recent years. Portland has won eight of its last 11 games against Brooklyn, including two victories in the last three meetings.
With the Blazers being one of the top teams in the Western Conference and being fairly solid at home, I don’t see the Nets winning tonight. Brooklyn has too many issues on and off the court. Besides, giving up 150-plus points to the Kings just gives yet another reason to avoid the Nets.
I’m comfortable with backing Portland as the 2.5-point favorite in this Nets vs Trail Blazers collision. Not only are the Trail Blazers are 4-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last five outings but they’re also 3-0 ATS in their last three meetings with the Nets.
I’m also going with the under on the 220-point total. The total has gone under in seven of the Nets’ last nine games, as well as in 13 of the Blazers’ last 19. With the under also being reached in four of the last Brooklyn-Portland matchups at Moda Center, expect a low-scoring game tonight.
