See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe Western Conference could be short one playoff team after Wednesday’s action is done as the Golden State Warriors look to eliminate the Denver Nuggets in Game 5 of their NBA playoff series.
It was looking as if the Nuggets were going to get swept this series, however, a 126-121 Game 4 victory has kept their postseason alive. Another dominant performance from superstar center Nikola Jokic would go a long way in helping them accomplish their goal.
On the other hand, the Warriors did outscore the Nuggets in the second half of Game 4, 69-63, so it could be argued that momentum is on their side. Only time will tell if that’s the truth.
Will the Nuggets live to fight another day? Or will the Warriors finally put an end to their misery and advance to Round 2 of the 2021-22 NBA Playoffs?

Nuggets Need Jokic to Lead Again
Due to the injuries that the Nuggets have been dealing with this season, Nikola Jokic’s play is what’s helped them achieve any semblance of success — including the Game 4 victory.
Jokic finished Sunday’s game with 37 points on .667/.600/1.000 shooting while adding six assists and eight rebounds. The Warriors don’t have anyone that can truly contain him, which is why the 2021-22 NBA MVP candidate must continue to lead by example.
Jokic is now averaging 28.3 points, 12.8 rebounds and 7.0 assists in his last 10 games against Golden State. Unless he comes out of the gate cold, it’s safe to say that he’ll experience a similar level of success tonight, whether Denver wins or loses.
The Nuggets would be happy if Monte Morris can repeat his Game 4 success. The 26-year-old point guard had 24 points on a .636 FG% last game, which was his highest point total of the 2021-22 season.
On top of that, Aaron Gordon also finished with a series-high 21 points while Bones Hyland looked solid with 15 points, seven assists and four rebounds in just over 19 minutes of playing time.
The Nuggets may not have the star power that the Warriors boast, however, continued contributions from Jokic and the supporting cast give them a fighting chance tonight.
Warriors Look to Advance to Round 2… Again
The Warriors had a chance to sweet the Nuggets and advance to the Western Conference semifinals over the weekend, but clearly didn’t get the job done. Now, they’re hoping that the second time is the charm.
The truth is that the Warriors did a lot of things right despite losing Game 4 and figuring out how to build off of select individual performances will go a long way in helping them potentially advance tonight.
For example, Klay Thompson continues to look like his old self despite missing all that time due to injury. He had 32 points with a .600 FG% while making 7-of-11 three-pointers on Sunday, giving him at least five made threes in three of the last four games.
Stephen Curry continued being dominant off the bench as well, finishing with 33 points, eight assists and four steals in nearly 37 minutes of action. He’s now averaging 33.3 PPG over his last three outings and is showing no signs of stopping due to the Nuggets not having the depth to contain him.
Even Draymond Green was a bright spot with his six points, six rebounds, 11 assists and team-high plus-18 plus/minus rating.
However, the Warriors will need a bounce-back performance from Jordan Poole, who had just 11 points with a .300 FG%. Meanwhile, Golden State’s entire bench can afford to play better defense after combining for a minus-51 rating.
If head coach Steve Kerr can solve the above issues while building on the solid individual performances from Game 4, there’s a good chance that the Warriors could advance tonight.
Nuggets vs. Warriors Game 5 Prediction and Best Bets
Prediction: Warriors 128, Nuggets 117
Best Bets: Warriors -8.5 (-110 at Bovada Sportsbook) and Over 225.5 (-110 at BetOnline Sportsbook)
Even though the Nuggets won the last matchup, the Warriors have still been the better team overall in this series. With Game 5 being played at the Chase Center, look for Golden State to use that momentum to shut this series down.
Best Prop Pick for Nuggets vs. Warriors Game 5
- Stephen Curry Over 27.5 Points (-116 at BetOnline Sportsbook)
As mentioned above, Stephen Curry has been absolute money for the Warriors lately. However, he’s also been successful against the Nuggets.
Curry is averaging 31.2 points on .534/.441/.865 shooting in his last 10 games against Denver. He’s also hit the total on this prop six times over that stretch.
The Nuggets clearly don’t have an answer for him, which is why I could see Curry hitting the over with ease.
