The New Orleans Pelicans travel to Dallas to take on Luka Dončić and the Mavericks in a Western Conference Saturday night showdown.

The West is becoming more wide open by the day and the Pels and Mavs are 3rd and 4th respectively, and are both enjoying a nice run of good games over the past 2 weeks.

In this battle of two of the best in the West tonight, who will come out on top?

Here is my analysis, a game prediction and a MUST BET player prop!

As Luka goes, the Mavs Go

Luka is playing some of his best basketball of his career this season.

He is averaging 34 PPG and shooting an insane 50% from the floor. For a Point Guard, that is incredibly impressive.

Luka is doing it all for the Mavs, which is working when Luka is on.

And he has been on alot.

But if Luka has a bad night, the Mavericks struggle.

In their last game against the Celtics, Luka struggled from the floor, shooting 30% from the floor and only scoring 23 points.

The Mavs lost 124-95 and it wasn’t close all night long.

Obviously, Luka is amazing and is one of the best players in the league but the Mavs don’t have an answer when Luka has a random bad night.

Whether that is sustainable is a separate conversation but no doubt Luka will come out ready to roll tonight against the beaten-up Pelicans.

Who’s gonna suit up for the Pels?

Here is the latest injury report for the Pelicans tonight. If you’re a Pelicans fan, you may want to skip this part.

As you can see, it’s not looking good for the Pels starting lineup tonight and this is going to be a test for the Pelicans over the next stretch without Zion and Brandon Ingram.

CJ McCollum is very capable of carrying this offense so that is definitely worth monitoring over the next few weeks.

But tonight, with no McCollum, Zion and Ingram, can the Pelicans hang around with Luka and the Mavericks at the American Airlines Center tonight?

In his last 2 matchups with the Pelicans, he has cruised for a cool 37 and 49 points.

Over his past 7 games, he has 35+ in 5 of 7.

While this could turn into a blowout, if that happens, its because Luka did his damage early and often.
