Portland Trail Blazers vs Los Angeles Clippers Betting Preview: Are the Struggling Clippers Overvalued at Home Against Prolific Portland?

The Clippers are still looking for their first win of the new NBA season. The plan was to stay relevant until Kawhi Leonard gets back and then surge. Two straight losses to start the season is not a good look.
The Trail Blazers have split their first two games. The offense has been looking great so far, but this is their first road game of the season.
The Clippers are just a small favorite at home, but to get that first win they have to find a way to shut down the league’s highest-scoring team.

Portland Trail Blazers vs Los Angeles Clippers Betting Outlook
Portland has split their first couple of games. They are off of an impressive home win over the Suns and looking to build off that momentum. CJ McCollum has been red hot to start the season, making more than half of his 3’s and scoring 62 points in two games.
On the other hand, Damian Lillard has not been hot. A couple of games is hardly a reason to worry about one of the best players in the NBA, especially with the club getting the scoring they need from other sources. Portland has good continuity this season and this is a solid matchup because they have a couple of guys who can guard Paul George effectively.
A couple of games is also too soon to worry about the Clippers, but there is some pressure on the Clippers in this spot. Nobody expects them to challenge for the top of the West without Kawhi, but they need to be a playoff team.
George has 70 points in his first two games and leads the team in rebounds and assists, but he can’t do it all on his own. The Clippers have not been getting dominated, but they need more from the supporting cast. Eric Bledsoe has been a surprise with 34 points in two games, but I am not buying it. Until their secondary scorers start shooting better, the Clippers will struggle to get comfortable.
Portland Trail Blazers vs Los Angeles Clippers Best Bet
Portland +3
I am going with the better form team for this one. Portland has looked pretty good and you know Lillard is going to be energized by being in L.A. George has been great for the Clippers, but it hasn’t been enough. There just isn’t much life to this group right now, so even though they are at home and desperate for a win, I like the Blazers.
Prop Watch: Robert Covington Over 7.5 points (-125)
Covington is far from a dynamic scorer, but I think this game is going to have a lot of pace and he is going to get a ton of minutes guarding George. He just has to knock down a few of the open looks he should get. Through two games he has been over and under this total once each.
Portland Trail Blazers vs Los Angeles Clippers Score Prediction
Portland Trail Blazers 127, Los Angeles Clippers 122
