Raptors Look to Force Game 6

The Raptors were looking like they were going to be swept by the 76ers before pulling off the 110-102 Game 4 victory.

If the Raptors hope to recreate that magic, they’re going to need Siakam to continue playing like the All-NBA player they know he’s capable of being.

As mentioned before, Siakam’s 34 points were the difference-maker in Game 4. He finished the contest with a .526 field-goal percentage, however, a chunk of his success came from drawing fouls, resulting in him going 13-of-15 from the free-throw line.

It wasn’t all Siakam, though. Gary Trent Jr. finished with 24 points for the second straight game while playing 39 minutes. Even though he wasn’t offensively dominant, Thaddeus Young was an all-around contributor coming off the bench with 13 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.

The Raptors also received a morale boost from Scottie Barnes returning to the lineup following his injury in Game 1. Although he only had six points in 25 minutes, Barnes was recently named 2021-22 NBA Rookie of the Year and his presence alone is enough to will the Raptors to play better.

It’s clear that the Raptors are a better team when they’re getting contributions from the top to the bottom of their lineup. They’ve succeeded as a committee and that’s exactly what they’ll need to do again to force another game at Scotiabank Arena.

Embiid, 76ers Look to Rebound After Game 4

One of the main reasons why the 76ers initially had a 3-0 series lead was due to the play of Joel Embiid.

The 2021-22 NBA MVP candidate had back-to-back 30-plus-point efforts in Games 2 and 3, however, the Raptors kept him in check in the last outing, holding him to 21 points on a .438 field-goal percentage.

Anyone that’s watched Embiid this season knows how that type of performance is uncharacteristic for him and he’ll try to right that wrong tonight. The good news is that he has scored at least 30 points in 14 of his last 21 games, which bodes well for a potential bounce-back.

The 76ers will also need better from James Harden, who is averaging only 19.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 9.8 assists after averaging 22.0 PTS/7.7 REB/10.3 AST during the regular season. On top of that, his .375 FG% has left a lot to be desired.

Harden may not be the player that he once was, but he’s still one of the best guards in the NBA. Even if Embiid is the 76ers’ No. 1 option, Harden needs to prove that he’s capable of taking over when his center is being shut down.

The duo of Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris could also use a rebound performance. Both men combined for 26 points on 11-of-24 field-goal opportunities in Game 4, which is underwhelming from the team’s top supporting cast members.

The 76ers have already proven to be better than what they showed in Game 4. Only time will tell which version of the team fans will see in Game 5.
