As a new week begins, the NBA has six games scheduled for Monday, Jan. 8 — including a 10:30 p.m. ET showdown between the Phoenix Suns (19-17) and LA Clippers (22-13) at crypto.com Arena, airing live on NBA TV.
Tonight marks the start of a three-game road trip for the Clippers, who are coming off a 121-115 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. Meanwhile, the Clippers look to return to the win column after Sunday’s 106-103 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers snapped their winning streak at five games.
So, which side will earn a much-needed victory tonight? Let’s dive into my Suns vs Clippers prediction and best bets to see how this game could unfold.

Suns vs Clippers Prediction & Pick (1/8)
You don’t have to go too far back to find the last Suns-Clippers matchup.
The two Western Conference franchises just collided on Jan. 3, ending in a 131-122 road win for LA. The Clippers’ effort was led by Paul George and Kawhi Leonard combining for 63 points on .567/.563/.909 shooting slips as the Suns never even led for a second.
It was a much-needed victory for the Clippers, who well 4-2 in a six-game series with the Suns in the first round of the 2022-23 NBA playoffs. Having said that, LA hasn’t let that elimination affect its start to the current campaign, which sees Tyron Lue’s team fourth in the West with a 22-13 record.
For reference, the Suns sit ninth at 19-17 in a campaign that’s seen their lineup’s potential capped due to injury.
Can Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers improve to 2-0 over the Suns this season with a home victory tonight?
The injury bug could be working against the Suns again tonight as Bol Bol (ankle), Nassir Little (knee), and Eric Gordon (knee) all sat out of Sunday’s loss and could be absent again tonight due to a quick turnaround.
As for the Clippers, their lineup is healthy outside of Moussa Diabate, who’s out for an undetermined amount of time due to a hand injury.
On top of the injury situation, another thing the Clippers have going for them is strong play at crypto.com Arena, where they’re 14-4 SU (10-8 ATS) this season. Not only do they have the eighth-best field-goal and 12th-best three-point percentages at home this season, but they also hold opponents to 108.4 PPG (T-7th).
That’s without mentioning how LA has also won nine of their last 10 home games with a plus-6.5 average scoring margin.
For comparison, Phoenix is 1-4 SU with a minus-2.8 average in its last five road games — a span where the Suns were held to 105 or fewer points in each loss.
The Suns have struggled on the road, going 1-4 SU in their last five away games. Can they reverse their fortunes against the Clippers?
Even though the Suns got the better in this Pacific Division rivalry last year, the Clippers will stand tall tonight. LA is playing some of its best basketball of the season at the moment, highlighted by a 14-3 record in its last 17 games. The Suns are solid when they’re on their game, but it’s hard to go against the Clippers, who are 5-1 following their last six losses.
As for the best bet, take LA on the spread, too. Not only are the Clippers 4-1 ATS in their last five games, but they’re also 9-2 ATS in their last 11 outings as the favorite. The Suns, meanwhile, have only covered the spread four times in their last 19 games and are 4-6 ATS as underdogs.
After beating the Suns by nine points on the road last week, the Clippers have proven they can cover tonight’s 5.5-point spread.

Best Suns vs Clippers NBA Prop Bet (1/8)
Suns vs. Clippers prop bet options are limited at the time of writing, so let’s go with Phoenix winning the race to 10 points.
Even though I predict that the home team will win, don’t be surprised if the visitors have a strong start. The Suns average 29.0 first-quarter points (11th), which actually bumps up to 29.9 when they’re on the road (4th). Meanwhile, the Clippers usually take some time to get things going, averaging 26.6 first-quarter points at home — tied for the third-fewest in the NBA.
The Suns will still likely break down as the game goes on but don’t be surprised if that happens after another strong start.
