Warriors vs. Celtics Game 6 Betting: Back Golden State to Clinch Title in Boston

Game 5 of the 2021-22 NBA Finals is finally in the books, ending in a 104-94 victory for the Golden State Warriors over the Boston Celtics. With the Warriors now leading for the first time this series, they have a chance to clinch the NBA Championship with a win in Game 6 on Thursday, June 16.

The Warriors won the last time these two teams met in Boston and they’ll need some of that same magic on Thursday. They can’t afford to let the Celtics back into the series, meaning it’ll need to be a team effort to get the job done.

On the other hand, the Celtics are officially backed up against the wall and need to figure a way to even things up. Their star players haven’t been as consistent as they should be, which is an issue that must be solved sooner than later.

Will the Warriors hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy at TD Garden on Thursday? Or will the Celtics force a Game 7 to decide the Finals?

Warriors Look to Clinch NBA Finals

A lot of people were wondering if the Warriors’ championship window was over when injuries to their top players held them back over the last couple of years. Yet here they are back in the NBA Finals with a chance to end the series on Thursday.

There’s no doubt that Golden State is hoping to get a repeat performance from Andrew Wiggins in Game 6. The 27-year-old was his team’s best player on Monday, leading the way with 26 points in over 42 minutes of action.

On top of that, Wiggins added 13 assists for the double-double. His performance has some fans wondering if he’s now in contention for the Finals MVP honors, but he’ll need a similar performance later this week to help that become a reality.

Klay Thompson also had one of his better performances of the NBA Finals as well on Monday, scoring 20 points while making 5-of-11 three-point attempts.

One player who could’ve been much better is Stephen Curry, though. After his historic 43-point performance, the veteran sharpshooter had only 16 points on a 31.8% field-goal percentage, which includes going 0-of-9 from beyond the arc.

In fact, the Warriors as a whole shot poorly from range, ending the night with a team three-point percentage of 22.5%.

Nevertheless, if Wiggins and Thompson can string together back-to-back solid showings and Curry can bounce back, ending the 2021-22 NBA Finals on Thursday is a realistic possibility.

Celtics Can’t Crumble Under Pressure

A return to home is supposed to give teams a momentum boost, but all the Celtics are feeling is the pressure that comes from the fact that they could be eliminated on Thursday night.

It’s going to take a team effort to thwart the Warriors and the Celtics know that. They’ll be counting on all their top players to step up, but it won’t be easy.

`Jayson Tatum had a 27-point, 10-rebound double-double in Game 5 while shooting 50.0% from the field and 55.6% from three-point range. He’s now scored 26-plus points in three of the last four games.

The same can’t be said for Jaylen Brown, who struggled to shoot the ball on Monday. Brown finished with just 18 points on .278/.000/.800 shooting while recording a team-worst minus-19 rating. That just won’t cut it against a team like Golden State.

Even Al Horford continued his struggles, mustering up only nine points in the losing effort. After dropping 26 points in Game 1, the veteran big man is only averaging 7.5 PTS/7.8 REB/3.0 AST since then.

The biggest issue for the Celtics on Monday happened to be turnovers, which they had 18 of compared to the Warriors’ six. Marcus Smart, Tatum and Brown each had at least four turnovers each, which clearly came back to bite them.

At the end of the day, the Celtics are good enough to beat the Warriors. They’ve done it twice so far. But only time will tell if they can change their fortunes on Thursday.

After winning back-to-back contests, I expect the Warriors to close out the Celtics in Game 6. Golden State is the all-around better team and I expected a bounce-back performance from Curry to help them secure an NBA Finals victory.

As for the best bets, I’m taking the Warriors at +145 on the moneyline on Bovada Sportsbook as it offers the best value, as well as the total hitting over 210 points because of the added pressure that comes from an elimination game.
