Arizona vs Oregon Basketball Prediction & Picks (1/27): Will the Wildcats Lay Another Egg on the Road?

Oregon may be in first place in the Pac-12, but that doesn’t mean much for their March Madness hopes at present. However, a win today over #9 Arizona (5:30 pm ET, FOX) will provide a significant boost to their NCAA Tournament resume, which currently lacks the kind of signature win that this would be.
Arizona (14-5, 5-3 Pac-12) fell at Oregon State on Thursday, but they are fourth in the NET, and a win would be big for Oregon (14-5, 6-2 Pac-12), who is 51st the NET as of today.
A win today would also strengthen Oregon’s hold on the top spot in the conference standings ahead of a stretch in which six of eight games will be on the road. If they can come out of that stretch still in first place, they will likely enter their March 2 rematch with the Wildcats in a secure place in the field of 68.
Arizona doesn’t have those kinds of worries, but the Wildcats can’t drop too many more games if they want to land a high seed on Selection Sunday.

Arizona vs Oregon Prediction and Picks
Arizona vs Oregon Betting Analysis and Prediction
The road has not been a pleasant place for a lot of college basketball teams thus far this season, including both Arizona and Oregon.
The Wildcats have won their first four home games in Pac-12 play, but they are just 1-3 on the road, with a win at Cal and losses at Stanford, Washington State, and Oregon State.
Is another upset on the horizon for Arizona? Alarm bells certainly are ringing, as the Ducks are a perfect 10-0 at home and are now at their healthiest all season.
After starting 5-0 in Pac-12 play, Oregon fell in back-to-back games at Colorado and Utah before getting back into the win column with Thursday’s 80-61 win over Arizona State. They trailed 33-28 at halftime, but whatever was said in the locker room worked wonders and led to a dominant second-half performance.
With Dante and Bittle back in action (and excluding Jesse Zarzuela, who is out for the season), the Ducks have ten players averaging at least 14.8 minutes per game, and nine of those players average at least 7.5 points per game.
Their talent and quality depth will make them a very dangerous team in March if they can remain healthy, and it will come in handy in this matchup as well.
Prediction: Oregon to cover and win

Oregon +4 (-108) and Oregon ML (+165)
I haven’t gone ice cold on Arizona, but they are not playing at their best level right now.
Everything is not going to click every time out, but there’s a lot to be concerned about.
- Kylan Boswell has suffered a severe drop-off since a strong start to the season. In Arizona’s conference losses, he has five points, seven assists, and has made 2 of 19 shots (1 of 11 from three). Against Oregon State, he had no points and two assists in 24 minutes, which is only marginally better than his no points and no assists in 25 minutes at Washington State.
- Three-point shooting has been poor away from Tucson. At home, Arizona is shooting 41.2% (94 of 228) from outside. In road and neutral-site games, they are shooting just 29.8% (51 of 171).
- Having Caleb Love as your first option can be a double-edged sword, especially when it’s still not quite clear who can be trusted with some consistency. Larsson? Johnson? Ballo? Bueller?
- Can they make their free throws when it matters? Thursday’s loss in Corvallis (21 of 31, 67.7%) was the tenth time this season that the Wildcats failed to make at least 70% of their foul shots.
These are not really the problems you want to be dealing with going into a game like this one. It’s possible that things click today for Arizona in a way they haven’t in their other recent travels, but I don’t think that will be the case against a strong Oregon team.
