With three losses in their first eight games, Gonzaga is not off to an ideal start this season. Is the door open tonight for visiting Kent State to come into Spokane leave with a win?
The Bulldogs fell agonizingly short against Baylor on Friday night, falling to the Bears by one point in their matchup in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Gonzaga has one more chance to pick up a notable non-conference win, as they will take on Alabama in Las Vegas in less than two weeks. But with three losses already, they can’t slip up in other spots, like tonight against a team that lost by just five to #1 Houston recently.
Will the Bulldogs bounce back from Friday’s frustrating finish to pick up their sixth win of the season? Or will the Golden Flashes pull off a stunner in Spokane? Keep reading for our Kent State vs Gonzaga prediction, as well as our picks for the matchup.

Kent State’s close loss against Houston is certainly worth noting, as they held the Cougars to just 32 percent shooting and led inside the final minute before UH scored the game’s final six points.
I think this game will have a similar result, as in Gonzaga will get the win in their home arena. But I think there will be a lot more scoring between these two sides, with more of it coming from the Bulldogs.
Of Gonzaga’s first eight games this season, six have come against teams from power conferences: Michigan State, Texas, Kentucky, Purdue, Xavier, and Baylor.
Those results have been a mixed bag, but the results from their small sample size against other opposition couldn’t be much better. To open the season, the Bulldogs throttled North Florida 104-63, while they downed Portland State 102-78 to open their play in the Phil Knight Legacy.
Kent State isn’t to be dismissed or overlooked given their performance at Houston, but these are the kinds of games where the Bulldogs need to flex their muscles and take out some frustration against inferior opposition. I look for them to do just that tonight and get back in the win column with Washington ahead on Friday.
