NCAA Basketball Best Bets – November 14th, 2024
LSU vs Kansas State Predictions
Matchup Information – LSU vs Kansas State
- Venue & Location: Bramlage Coliseum (Manhattan, KS)
- Date: Thursday, November 14th, 2024
- Tip Off: 9:00pm Eastern
- Broadcast: ESPN+
Best Bet: LSU/KSU Over 150 (-105) BetOnline
Now, Kansas State is a fairly slow team, and we know the home team controls the pace of the game. Despite these being two good defenses, I think the offenses show out tonight. LSU is incredibly fast, and I think they make Kansas State play to their speed, even on the road.
The Tigers blew out Louisiana Monroe and then took down Alabama State at home, scoring 84.5 points per game, while only allowing 60. As for the Wildcats, they’ve scored 83 per game against New Orleans and Cleveland State, also holding both teams to the 60s. But let’s talk about the pace in this game.
Like I said, Kansas State is slow. They rank 217th in pace, while LSU loves to run, ranking 52nd in possessions per game. LSU guard Cam Carter who leads the team in scoring is back in the Little Apple, facing his old team. Both teams are Top 75 in both offensive and defensive efficiency, but they both love the deep ball. These squads shoot over 47% of their shots from down town, and both shoot pretty well. The Wildcats boast a 43.4% 3P% so far this season, while LSU holds their own at 32%.
Sure, Kansas State may try to slow things down, but against New Orleans they almost scored 90 against a team thank ranks 38th in pace. They speed up to their competition, and are Top 20 in eFG% offensively. The Wildcats offensive rebound plenty, the Tigers get to the free throw line, and I think there should be plenty of possessions to cover this number tonight.
Northern Arizona vs Pacific Predictions
Matchup Information – NAU vs Pacific
- Venue & Location: Alex G Spanos Center (Stockton, CA)
- Date: Thursday, November 14th, 2024
- Tip Off: 10:00pm Eastern
- Broadcast: ESPN+
Best Bet: Pacific -7 (-105) BetOnline
Couple of things here. Yes, we just faded Pacific against Hawaii and cashed with the Rainbow Warriors, tonight we back them Second, I did book this last night at -5.5, but still think this is a play at -7 right now (#CLV). Prior to losing to Hawaii, Pacific had won three straight including a tough one against San Jose State. Now that game was in Honolulu, so this is Pacific’s first “real” home game this season, and the place should be rocking.
The Lumberjacks really aren’t that good of a basketball team. Defensively, they suck. They are north of 300 in adjusted defensive efficiency, eFG%, TO% and Offensive Rebounds Allowed. Northern Arizona doesn’t shoot the three, and they certainly can’t defend it, ranking 214th in 3P Rate defensively and 361st in 3P% defense, allowing their foes to shoot 52% from deep. Yes, 52%.
Now, this won’t really come into play, as Pacific is 358th in 3P Rate and 346th in 3P%, avoiding the perimeter shots all together. However what they do well is take care of the ball and contest shots. Pacific is 65th in TO Rate offensively and 74th in eFG defense. Tonight I see them showing out at home against a Northern Arizona team that will not want to keep up with their Top 100 paced opponent.
