Virginia Tech (23-4, 14-2 ACC) is a game and a half ahead of Syracuse (23-5, 13-4 ACC), whose regular season finale is tonight at #12 NC State. If the Orange fall in Raleigh, the Hokies will clinch the regular season tonight even if they lose to the Irish (21-6, 11-5 ACC).

Virginia Tech vs Notre Dame Betting Analysis and Prediction

This is often a spot I eye the home team to win outright as an underdog or a small favorite.

This time, however, I’m on the opposite side.

Notre Dame’s 82-67 win at UConn last month still stands out in their resume and will carry some weight when the committee hashes things out in a couple of weeks.

But on the whole, the Irish have not sparkled against the better teams on their schedule. Sure, there are also wins at Tennessee, Florida State, and Duke, all of whom will be in the field of 68.

But at home, they lost by 14 to Syracuse and by 16 to North Carolina State, and in their other conference game against a ranked foe, the Irish fell 73-66 at Louisville three weeks ago.

This certainly isn’t to say that Notre Dame doesn’t have the ability to pull out the win over the Hokies. They absolutely do.

If Hannah Hidalgo (23.7 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 5.5 APG, 4.9 SPG) has a huge game and Sonia Citron (15.9 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 2.8 APG), who is shooting only 42.3% from the field (33 of 78) and 23.1% (6 of 26) from three in her last six games, can make her shots, the Irish absolutely can win.

But based on what each team has shown in situations like this, I can’t help but love the Hokies to handle their business tonight and lock up the program’s first-ever ACC regular season title.
