#11 Alabama vs #15 LSU Predictions
Heading down to Baton Rouge after both the Alabama Crimson Tide and LSU Tigers return from their bye weeks. These two teams had very different outcomes before the break: Alabama cruised past Missouri 34-0, while LSU dropped a tough one in College Station, falling 38-23 to Texas A&M. Now, the Tigers find themselves as three-point home underdogs, needing a win to stay alive in the College Football Playoff race.
It’s interesting how often LSU gets undervalued at home. They’ve knocked off solid teams like Ole Miss (winning outright as three-point underdogs) and made statements against UCLA and South Alabama. Sure, they lost their home opener to USC, but Week 1 is always a tough test.
This LSU team can put up over 35 points per game while holding opponents to under 20 at home. This isn’t last season’s LSU defense that would let your little brother’s junior varsity squad put up 35 points—this is a new, revamped defense that ranks in the top 60 in yards allowed per game, holding offenses to under 130 rushing yards at home, nearly under 100. Both teams stack up well, with Alabama’s Jalen Milroe a proven, talented quarterback. But LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier is lethal. The junior has thrown for over 2,600 yards this season, completing 62.5% of his passes and topping 300 yards against every ranked opponent. When the lights shine brightest, he shows up.
This should be a fantastic matchup, and the game should be as tight as the spread suggests. Give me the home dog. Geaux Tigers.
