The Alabama Crimson Tide have a tougher road test this week as they travel to the Lone Star State to take on the Texas Longhorns. The Tide enter the week in the #1 spot again, and they plan to keep it that way for a while.
Alabama dismantled Utah State last week 55-0. Bryce Young began his quest for a second straight Heisman Trophy by throwing for 5 touchdowns and adding 1 on the ground. Even when the backups came in on defense, Utah State was no match for the depth of the Tide.
Texas had a pretty easy test in Week 1 as well. They handled Louisiana-Monroe 52-10, and came up big on defense and special-teams. They returned an interception and a punt for touchdowns in a game that had them looking like a Top 25 team.
To no surprise, Bovada Sportsbook has the Crimson Tide as 20 point favorites on Saturday afternoon. Will there be any way for the home team to fight back and make it a close game?

Rematch of the 2010 National Championship Game
The last time these two teams faced off was over 12 years ago in the National Championship Game. It was the beginning of Alabama’s run of dominance in college football.
Alabama won that game 37-21, and Nick Saban became a National Championship-winning head coach. To this day, it is the only time that Alabama has successfully beaten the Longhorns.
The two teams have met 9 times with Texas leading the series 7-1-1. This will be the first regular season contest since 1922. A lot has changed in 100 years of football, but the pride that these two teams possess has not.
With 22 National Championships between the two schools, this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for the fans to witness history. Can Texas truly compete and make it an all-time classic?
Unfortunately for the Longhorns, they will face one of the best Alabama teams that has ever been assembled. The National Title favorites are a lot different now than they were 100 years ago. They are scoring more, and the starters should be rested after a blowout victory.
With that being said, Texas fans may not want to get their hopes up too much. It will be a fun game to witness, but don’t be expecting a drastic change to Alabama’s chemistry. They will be high-flying like always, and I doubt they hold anything back.
#1 Alabama vs. Texas Prediction and Picks
Alabama vs. Texas Prediction: Alabama 42, Texas 17
Alabama vs. Texas Best Bets: Alabama -20.0 (-110 at Bovada Sportsbook)
I don’t see the Over/Under as much of a play in this game. The set total is quite high, considering that I am not expecting Texas to light up the scoreboard against Alabama’s defense.
Alabama should feel comfortable as 20 point favorites. According to Football Power Index, Alabama has an 81.8% chance of coming away from Texas 2-0. They are ranked #1 for a reason, and they will not be underdogs anytime soon.
I side with the Alabama spread in this game. Their dominant defensive performance in Week 1 gives me confidence in the bet, and until something changes, that is the best way to go about your wager.
