The TCU Horned Frogs and Colorado Buffaloes begin their season on Friday in a battle between Big 12 and Pac-12 teams. This will be the first meeting between the two teams on the football field.
TCU is coming off of a disappointing 5-7 season that saw them miss out on thee postseason. They were 3-6 within the Big 12, including a loss in their final game against Iowa State that made a bowl bid disappear.
Colorado has also been on a slide, as they finished 2021 with a 4-8 record. Just like TCU, they were 3-6 against their own division. Colorado also went 0-5 on the road, so a home game to start 2022 may be what they need to spark a rally.
At BetOnline, TCU is a heavy favorite against the Buffaloes. There will be less value in betting the moneyline this week, but we can still gain some value back in other bets.

Expectations for TCU in 2021
For the Horned Frogs, they believe they are contenders in the Big 12. Why not? They have 3 easier non-conference games, and their toughest conference test will be against #10 Baylor on the road. The other two ranked teams they play will travel to Texas to play at TCU.
TCU may not seem like a smart pick for something like the NAtional Championship, but there is some value in betting them to win the Big 12. They are currently +950 to win their conference, which is good enough for fifth best in the Big 12.
2022 Big 12 Conference Title Odds
Conference odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
- Oklahoma +200
- Texas +350
- Oklahoma State +550
- Baylor +550
- TCU +950
- Kansas State +1200
- Iowa State +2000
- West Virginia +2000
- Texas Tech +5000
- Kansas +25000
TCU will be favored heavily in their first two games of the season. Even on the road against a Pac-12 school, they have the Buffaloes beat by quite a bit. This is a great chance for a confidence boost heading into Big 12 play.
Expectations for Colorado in 2021
For the Colorado Buffaloes, they want to make it back to the postseason. I can’t say they will have a good enough season to compete in the conference, but they will certainly want to be better than 4-8.
It all starts Week 1, as their non-conference schedule is a bit intimidating. They will have tough road tests at Air Force and Minnesota in which they are likely the underdog. TCU might be the closest they can get to a win before conference play starts.
Colorado’s Over/Under win total for 2021 is only sitting at 3 as we approach Week 1. Even with the number so low, they are still underdogs to hit that mark and hit the Over.
2022 Colorado Buffaloes Football Over/Under Win Total Odds
- Over 3: +135
- Under 3: -160
TCU vs. Colorado Prediction and Picks
TCU vs. Colorado Prediction: TCU 31, Colorado 10
TCU vs. Colorado Best Bets: TCU -13.5 (-114 at BetOnline)
As I stated earlier, there will be less value in the moneyline in this particular matchup. TCU is a heavy favorite, as Colorado is expected to have one of their worst seasons of the decade.
Focus on the spread for TCU, as they should be able to win by two touchdowns on the road. That bet offers the best return if you are looking to bet on a single team.
The Under is also in play, as I don’t see Colorado lighting up the scoreboard against a stronger Big 12 defense. TCU could help get to the Over/Under line, but it is still a bit higher at 55.5.
