This Saturday, we’ve got an intriguing matchup as Baylor travels to Morgantown to take on West Virginia. The Bears come off a dramatic win over TCU, a game that saw them storm the field after a narrow 37-34 victory, but now they face a much tougher challenge on the road. West Virginia, coming off back-to-back road wins as underdogs, returns home as 3-point dogs in a game that could be a defining moment for both teams. Let’s break down why the Mountaineers might have the edge in this one.

Baylor vs West Virginia Predictions
Another week, another system play Saturday. This one’s been circled for two weeks, as the team that stormed the field after a massive win had a bye week right after. Who are we talking about? Baylor, after their 37-34 win over unranked TCU on November 2, capped off by a game-winning field goal. The Baylor faithful rushed the field in celebration, but I have to ask—why? Beating a team that was 5-3 at the time? Really? The Bears were favored by 2.5 points in that game—so you’re storming the field for covering the spread? Please.
Now it’s West Virginia’s turn. The Mountaineers come into this one riding high after back-to-back outright road wins against Arizona and Cincinnati. Now they return home to host Baylor as 3-point underdogs. If West Virginia weren’t part of this system play, I might be inclined to stay away from this game because of the back-to-back wins as underdogs.
But I’m riding the hot hand. The Mountaineers have been tested all season, facing tough competition right from the start. They opened the year against No. 8 Penn State, then faced No. 11 Iowa State and No. 17 Kansas State. If Baylor’s win over TCU meant that much to them, this game will mean a whole lot more to West Virginia.
Both teams are pretty similar when it comes to offensive and defensive stats, so this one’s going to come down to who can stop the pass. If West Virginia can lock down Baylor’s aerial attack, they should be in great shape. Let’s roll with the Mountaineers.
Prediction: West Virginia Wins
