The 2023 NCAA college football season has already reached Week 7, bringing another exciting batch of games to the table. Saturday’s schedule includes a top-25 matchup between the No. 25 Miami Hurricanes and No. 12 North Carolina Tar Heels.
Miami is coming off one of the most disappointing losses in program history, falling 23-20 to Georgia Tech in a game that should’ve been won. Meanwhile, North Carolina improved to 5-0 with a 40-7 win over Syracuse as QB Drake Maye threw for 442 passing yards and three touchdowns.

Miami vs North Carolina Prediction — NCAAF Week 7
All Miami had to do last week was take one final kneel and let the clock run out to improve to 5-0.
Instead, Mario Cristobal’s team got cute with the ball and tried to run it, resulting in a fumble and a recovery by Georgia Tech, which led to the Yellow Jackets scoring the game-winning touchdown with two seconds remaining.
With that in mind, it’s incredibly tough to trust the Hurricanes this week. There’s no way that they aren’t feeling demoralized after that completely avoidable collapse. Unfortunately, they won’t get any relief with this week’s matchup.
North Carolina continues to solidify itself as one of the nation’s best teams, once again. The Tar Heels average the 11th-most points in the country and while the Hurricanes sit at No. 10, UNC has yet to score fewer than 31 points in a game.
North Carolina’s offensive success stems from QB Drake Maye’s play. Not only is the Heisman Trophy contender averaging 325.8 passing yards per game on a career-high 72.1% completion rate but he’s also turned 52 rushes into 174 yards and four TDs.
I can’t see Miami QB Tyler Van Dyke going head-to-head with Maye after last week’s showing. The Hurricanes signal-caller was responsible for three interceptions against Georgia Tech and now faces the Tar Heels, who racked up six takeaways in their last three games.
It’s also worth pointing out that UNC has had the edge in the Miami vs. North Carolina rivalry as of late. The Tar Heels have won four straight matchups against the Hurricanes before Saturday’s contest, outscoring their ACC rival by an average of 11.3 points.

With a 13-4 record in their last 17 home games, I’m fully backing the Tar Heels to win this weekend. North Carolina is the better and should be able to defeat a Miami squad that’s clearly lacking confidence after its latest loss.
Considering how the Hurricanes are also 1-8 ATS in their last nine conference matchups, look for UNC to win this one by a decent margin.
Prediction: UNC 30, Miami 24 — UNC -3 (-110 on Bovada)
North Carolina vs Miami Player Prop
If you’re looking for a North Carolina vs. Miami player prop, consider taking Drake Maye to throw over 301.5 passing yards.
Maye has excelled at throwing the ball over the last three games, averaging 384 passing yards over that stretch. He threw for more than 400 yards in two of those games and came close to reaching the Over on this prop in the third (296).
Although Miami isn’t allowing a ton of passing yards, it did allow Texas A&M QB Conner Weigman to record 336 in Week 2. Couple that with the fact that Maye racked up 309 aerial yards in his last game against the Hurricanes and it’s even easier to like the Over.
