Week 1 of the 2022 NCAA college football season was a hit, but now it’s time to turn our attention to a fresh slate of games. Week 2 brings even more exciting NCAAF action that fans and bettors alike won’t want to miss.
With so many games going on over the next week, there’s a lot of information to take in. Fortunately, we’ve collected the odds from some of the top Week 2 NCAAF games, as well as predictions for each of those matchups.
NCAA College Football Week 2 Odds
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook as of Monday, Sept. 5.
Alabama vs. Texas Odds
- No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide (1-0) vs. Texas Longhorns (1-0)
- Date: Saturday, Sept. 10 @ 12 p.m. ET
- Spread: Alabama Crimson Tide-20.5 (-105), Texas Longhorns +20.5 (-115)
- Total: OVER 61.5 (-115), UNDER 61.5 (-105)
- Moneyline: Alabama Crimson Tide -1100, Texas Longhorns +680
Both Alabama and Texas won big last week, however, only one can be victorious this time around. Out of the two victories, the Crimson Tide’s 55-0 shutout victory over Utah State was the more impressive, while Texas still looked strong with their 52-10 win against UL Monroe.
At the end of the day, Alabama is the clear-cut better team and there’s a reason why the program is No. 1 in the nation. Although Texas owns a career 7-1-1 record against Nick Saban’s squad, the Crimson Tide won the last meeting in 2010, 37-21.
I’m expecting Alabama to win what should be quite the high-scoring affair on Saturday.
Prediction: Alabama 42, Texas 27
Best Bet: Over 61.5 Points (-110)
Kentucky vs. Florida Odds
- No. 20 Kentucky Wildcats (1-0, 0-0 SEC) vs. Florida Gators (1-0, 0-0 SEC)
- Date: Saturday, Sept. 10 @ 7 p.m. ET
- Spread: Kentucky Wildcats+4.5 (-110), Florida Gators -4.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 51.5 (-110), UNDER 51.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Kentucky Wildcats +158, Florida Gators -192
Another two schools that opened up their 2022 college football season with a victory are Kentucky and Florida. Now, the two SEC rivals must engage in their 73rd all-time head-to-head meeting. The last time they met was last October, resulting in a 20-13 victory for Kentucky.
While the Wildcats were victorious last time, the Gators have actually won 37 of their last 40 matchups against this foe. You don’t win that many games without doing something right, which is why I’m calling for Florida to win this SEC showdown.
Prediction: Florida 29, Kentucky 21
Best Bet: Florida ML (-192)
Tennessee vs. Pitt Odds
- Tennessee Volunteers (1-0) vs. No. 17 Pittsburgh Panthers (1-0)
- Date: Saturday, Sept. 10 @ 3:30 p.m. ET
- Spread: Tennessee Volunteers-6.5 (-110), Pittsburgh Panthers +6.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 64.5 (-115), UNDER 64.5 (-105)
- Moneyline: Tennessee Volunteers -235, Pittsburgh Panthers +190
Tennessee opened up its 2022 schedule with a massive 59-10 victory over Ball State. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh barely edged out West Virginia, 38-31, for its first victory. Having said that, the Panthers’ 404 total yards allowed last week could spell disaster against a Volunteers team that dropped 569 on the Cardinals.
Even if Pitt is ranked higher here, Tennessee is the head-and-shoulders better team. The Volunteers’ offense will likely be at work right away and their defense is more than good enough to keep the Panthers out of it.
Prediction: Tennessee 39, Pitt 29
Best Bet: Tennessee -6.5 (-110)
Baylor vs. BYU Odds
- No. 10 Baylor Bears (1-0) vs. No. 25 BYU Cougars (1-0)
- Date: Saturday, Sept. 10 @ 10:15 p.m. ET
- Spread: Baylor Bears+2.5 (-105), BYU Cougars -2.5 (-115)
- Total: OVER 53.5 (-108), UNDER 53.5 (-112)
- Moneyline: Baylor Bears +118, BYU Cougars -142
Even though Baylor and BYU won their opening matchups thanks to some impressive offensive performances, both schools also demonstrated decent defensive showings. Fans who are expecting a shootout should likely temper expectations.
While the Bears and Cougars have only met three times over the years, their most meeting was last October. The result was a decisive 38-24 win in Baylor’s favor and even if the school isn’t favored here, I like the Bears enough to pull off the road upset in a low-scoring game.
Prediction: Baylor 27, BYU 24
Best Bet: Baylor ML (+118)
Arizona State vs. Oklahoma State Odds
- Arizona State Sun Devils (1-0) vs. No. 12 Oklahoma State Cowboys (1-0)
- Date: Saturday, Sept. 10 @ 7:30 p.m. ET
- Spread: Arizona State Sun Devils +11.5 (-110), Oklahoma State Cowboys -11.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 54.5 (-118), UNDER 54.5 (-104)
- Moneyline: Arizona State Sun Devils +340, Oklahoma State Cowboys -450
Oklahoma State may be the better team on paper here, but sure had a tougher time than expected beating CMU last week. The Cowboys got the victory in the end, however, it came by a 58-44 final score. In other words, they need better defense against the Sun Devils this week.
Nevertheless, I expect Oklahoma State to have a better overall effort this week. While the Sun Devils looked impressive at times in their Week 1 victory, the Cowboys need a decisive win to re-establish themselves.
Prediction: Oklahoma State 32, Arizona State 16
Best Bet: Oklahoma State -11.5 (-110)
NCAA College Football Week 2 Predictions & Picks
USC vs. Stanford Odds
- No. 14 USC Trojans (1-0, 0-0 Pac-12) vs. Stanford Cardinal (1-0, 0-0 Pac-12)
- Date: Saturday, Sept. 10 @ 7:30 p.m. ET
- Spread: USC Trojans -9.5 (-110), Stanford Cardinal +9.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 64.5 (-122), UNDER 64.5 (+100)
- Moneyline: USC Trojans -375, Stanford Cardinal +290
USC has had Stanford’s number in recent years, winning 10 of the last 16 matchups. Considering that the Trojans are projected to be one of the top schools this year and beat the Cardinal 42-28 last season, back USC here.
Prediction: USC 43, Stanford 24
Best Bet: USC -9.5 (-110)
South Carolina vs. Arkansas Odds
- South Carolina Gamecocks (1-0, 0-0 SEC) vs. No. 19 Arkansas Razorbacks (1-0, 0-0 SEC)
- Date: Saturday, Sept. 10 @ 12 p.m. ET
- Spread: South Carolina Gamecocks +7.5 (-112), Arkansas Razorbacks -7.5 (-108)
- Total: OVER 52.5 (-110), UNDER 52.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: South Carolina Gamecocks +240, Arkansas Razorbacks -300
Arkansas has had trouble with South Carolina, dropping its last three games against the Gamecocks. The last meeting was five years ago, though, and the Razorbacks are a much better team this time around. Expect Arkansas to turn things around.
Prediction: Arkansas 34, South Carolina 17
Best Bet: Arkansas -7.5 (-108)
Houston vs. Texas Tech Odds
- No. 24 Houston Cougars (1-0) vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders (1-0)
- Date: Saturday, Sept. 10 @ 4 p.m. ET
- Spread: Houston Cougars +2.5 (-105), Texas Tech Red Raiders -2.5 (-115)
- Total: OVER 65.5 (-106), UNDER 65.5 (-114)
- Moneyline: Houston Cougars +115, Texas Tech Red Raiders -138
While Houston is a solid team, it’s only won one of its last 10 meetings against Texas Tech. The Red Raiders have won three of their last four victories over the Cougars by at least 14 points, making it interesting to see if that trend continues.
Prediction: Texas Tech 35, Houston 27
Best Bet: Texas Tech ML (-138)
Oregon State vs. Fresno State Odds
- Oregon State Beavers (1-0) vs. Fresno State Bulldogs (1-0)
- Date: Saturday, Sept. 10 @ 10:30 p.m. ET
- Spread: Oregon State Beavers +1.5 (-110), Fresno State Bulldogs -1.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 60.5 (-110), UNDER 60.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Oregon State Beavers +100, Fresno State Bulldogs -120
This is one of those games that could go either way. I think that Oregon State and Fresno State are evenly matched, which is why I’m opting for the over considering that both teams score 30-plus points last week.
Prediction: Fresno State 35, Oregon State 32
Best Bet: Over 60.5 Points (-110)
Iowa State vs. Iowa Odds
- Iowa State Cyclones (1-0) vs. Iowa Hawkeyes (1-0)
- Date: Saturday, Sept. 10 @ 4 p.m. ET
- Spread: Iowa State Cyclones +3.5 (12-1), Iowa Hawkeyes -3.5 (-108)
- Total: OVER 41.5 (-106), UNDER 41.5 (-114)
- Moneyline: Iowa State Cyclones +136, Iowa Hawkeyes -164
Iowa State and Iowa have gone back and forth over the. years, however, it’s been all Hawkeyes lately. Iowa has won each of the last six matchups by an average win margin of 12.8 and I don’t expect that trend to change any time soon.
Prediction: Iowa 24, Iowa State 18
Best Bet: Iowa -3.5 (-108)
