See Picks & Statistics For The GameOle Miss and LSU face off down in Louisiana as this these Top 15 teams meet up once again. Heisman hopeful, Jaxson Dart, has split his two starts against the Tigers, but led Ole Miss to a victory at home last season. Dart completed 67% of his passes as he threw for 389 yards and 4 TDs, adding 50 yards and a TD on the ground as well. Can we see another break out game from Dart and the Rebels?
After losing to Kentucky at home, they bounced back and beat the Gamecocks in South Carolina last week. They moved the ball for 425 yards of offense, had just 1 turnover and held the Cocks to just 7 total points. As a guy with an Ole Miss win ticket, I am certainly rooting for the Rebels in this game. In my eyes, I needed Ole Miss to just win one game against LSU, Oklahoma, and Georgia, and this is their only road game of those contests. After dropping one to the Wildcats, I now need them to win 2 of these 3, but I think they are capable.
Can LSU Take Down Top 10 Rebels?
LSU has turned things around since losing to USC in their opener. They have won four straight games, beating teams by an average of 18.8 points, scoring at least 34 points in all of those wins. The offense seems to be fine without Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr., but of course, question marks surround the defense.
They are giving up over 3 touchdowns per game, and while they have looked great recently, this is the best offense they’ve seen this year. I think Ole Miss is more explosive than USC, and have a more pro ready QB in Dart. The experience will certainly come into play in this matchup on the road, so let’s dive in and find our best bets!

Can LSU Take Down Dart at Home?
Like I mentioned earlier, Jaxson Dart had a career day against LSU last year, and the Tiger’s defense isn’t much better. While teams only score 20.8 points against them, they move the ball for over 365 yards of total offense. That’s over 100 yards on the ground and 250 through the air. Dart is a mobile, dual threat QB, and I see him having tons of success on Saturday.
Ole Miss’ one loss came to a Kentucky defense that was very disruptive. They made Dart uncomfortable in the pocket and got plenty of pressure on him for 4 sacks. That won’t be the case against LSU. Lane Kiffin will scheme up some easy completions for Dart, helping his QB navigate this tough conference battle on the road. The Rebels know they need this game after already dropping one in the SEC, so I expect them to be ready to go this weekend. Even though LSU is coming off a bye week, I think Ole Miss will be able do whatever they please offensively. Then it’s up to the Rebels defense to take down the Tigers.
I think they are up for the challenge. This will be the most ferocious defense Nussmeier has seen this year, and I don’t think he will have much help from his running backs.
Ole Miss Rebels vs LSU Tigers Best Bets
Ole Miss vs LSU Prediction: Ole Miss Wins & Covers, Under 62
Best Bets: Jaxson Dart Over 22.5 Rushing Yards (-114) BetOnline
We are betting on the Ole Miss QB to use his legs this weekend. He had 50 yards on the ground last year against LSU, and avoided being sacked completely. So far this season, Dart has cleared this number in 4/6 games, including having 22 rushing yards against Kentucky, despite taking 4 sacks. I trust the Ole Miss offensive line to protect Dart, allowing him to scramble when needed, or escape pressure if it comes.
Dart has 156 total rushing yards this season, running for over 7 times a game for 26 yards. He had a rushing TD in each of his first three weeks, and he isn’t afraid to make a play with his legs. His fearlessness reminds me of Baker Mayfield, who will simply will his team to a first down if they need it. Ole Miss is also heading into a bye week, which also causes me to lean with that team having success, assuming they have a good coach like Kiffin who will keep them motivated through this weekend.
South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers ran 10 times for 88 yards and 2 TDs against the Tigers in their 3 point loss. Last week, South Alabama QB Gio Lopez ran 10 times for 33 yards as well. Dart is more than capable of escaping pressure and extending drives with his legs, so I see him doing just that on Saturday.
Bonus Bets: LSU TT Under 30.5 (-125) Bovada
I trust Ole Miss’ defense to come to play. LSU’s offense is a bit one dimensional, and assuming the secondary comes to play, I see them disrupting Nussmeier in the pocket. While this might be a “shootout”, I don’t have faith in the Tigers to score 30 points on an Ole Miss defense that hasn’t allowed more than 2 TDs in a game this season.
