It wasn’t pretty, but TCU continued its dream season by winning at Texas on Saturday. Along with booking their ticket to the Big 12 Championship Game, the Horned Frogs moved one step closer to a College Football Playoff spot.
Now, just Baylor, Iowa State, and potentially Kansas State stand in TCU’s way of being one of the four teams that will get to play for the national championship.
First up is this Saturday’s trip to Waco, where the Bears will be aiming for a much better outcome and performance after being routed by Kansas State at McLane Stadium.
Baylor had been on the way back up after their Big 12 title hopes took a major hit with two early conference losses. But in Saturday’s loss to the Wildcats, they were outplayed in every way and couldn’t even manage to find a consolation touchdown.

Can This Baylor Team End TCU’s Pursuit of Perfection?
As a lover of chaos, Baylor following their worst performance of the season with their best performance of the season would be pretty amazing.
But how likely is it that will happen?
Even when the Bears went 1-11 in 2017 under then-new coach Matt Rhule, they managed to score at least one offensive touchdown in every game.
The last time Baylor was held without an offensive touchdown in a game was in a 42-3 loss to Oklahoma State in the finale of Dave Aranda’s first season at the helm two years ago.
So, while the only way isn’t up, the Bears have a pretty low bar to do better than they did last week.
But they have not beaten a ranked team yet this season after logging five wins over ranked foes on the way to winning the Big 12 title and the Sugar Bowl last season.
And TCU will make the trip to Waco after a tremendous defensive performance in their win at Texas, in which they didn’t allow an offensive touchdown. Bijan Robinson was held to 29 yards on 12 carries, while Quinn Ewers completed just 17 of his 39 passes.
TCU vs. Baylor Prediction and Picks
TCU vs. Baylor Prediction: TCU to win
TCU vs. Baylor Pick: TCU ML (Best Value: -135 at Bovada Sportsbook)
The Horned Frogs have done a great of fighting through challenges and sticky situations this season, and I expect them to continue to be able to do that and weave Waco with a win.
In Big 12 play, TCU has only one comfortable win, their 55-24 rout of Oklahoma in their Big 12 opener. In all of their other conference games, they have had to deal with being in a tight game at some point every time out.
That kind of experience has served them well so far, and it will come up handy in what may be an even tougher game than next month’s title tilt at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
