Since joining the Big 12, TCU has been a persistent thorn in the side of Texas. There are multiple college football rivalries that involve the Longhorns, but the Horned Frogs are one little brother that has had their number. In what could be its last visit to Fort Worth before their move to the SEC, Texas will look to continue their resurgence with a resounding win over TCU.
Texas just dropped 70 points on Texas Tech last week to open Big 12 play, while TCU went down to rival SMU to wrap up non-conference play.
The Horned Frogs have taken the last two in this series, and they are 7-2 against the Longhorns in their nine Big 12 matchups. TCU may miss these yearly matchups when Texas leaves the conference, but the Longhorns certainly won’t.

Texas Longhorns vs TCU Horned Frogs Betting Outlook
When coach Steve Sarkisian came to Texas he said it was going to be “all gas, no brakes.” Well, we finally saw that for the first time this season when they doubled up Texas Tech 70-35 last week. That was impressive, kind of, but it was also against the Red Raiders.
The simple fact was that they were able to do whatever they wanted on offense, but will they be able to do that again this week? This Texas team clearly has talent on offense, but until we see some consistency I am not totally sold.
The Longhorns had wrapped up the game by halftime, so I am not going to kill them for giving up 35 points to the Red Raiders. Again, the last time they played a team that could push back they gave up 40 points and more than 300 yards on the ground to Arkansas. That Razorbacks team has certainly shown more than TCU, but I think they can attack Texas the same way.
TCU Loves To Take on Texas
Was TCU already looking ahead to this matchup last week? Perhaps that is why they didn’t look good in their loss to SMU. The Mustangs are off to an excellent start this season, but it was a surprising loss for the Horned Frogs. It was the defense that let them down last week, and that is a concerning trend. The offense led by QB Max Duggan and RB Zach Evans has been productive in all three games so far.
In their two games against FBS opponents, the Horned Frogs have given up 32 points to Cal and 42 to SMU. TCU needs their defense to set the tone more and coming off of a loss, this is a perfect game to do so if they are able. You have to expect that Patterson will have lit a fire under his team, both because of last week’s result and because of the significance of this game. Will it bring better results?

Texas Longhorns vs TCU Horned Frogs Best Bet
TCU +4.5
In four of TCU’s seven recent wins over Texas, they were favorites and covered. In their three other wins, they won outright as underdogs.
It is clear that no matter what players he has Patterson gets his guys up for Texas. I see this as being no different. We get some extra value from the most recent results too. I am definitely on TCU to cover in this one, and in the spirit of the past is a good indicator of the future I will sprinkle some on the money line too.
