Although many matchups could steal the show, there’s nothing like a classic rivalry. That’s why a lot of people are looking forward to the upcoming NFC East Sunday Night Football affair between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.
The Cowboys have now won four games in a row heading into Week 6. Their last win might have been their most impressive of the streak as they went marched into SoFi Stadium, defeating the Los Angeles Rams by a final score of 22-10 to send the crowd home disappointed.
Meanwhile, the Eagles continued their perfect season with a 20-17 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. It was the Jalen Hurts show as not only did he throw for 239 passing yards, but he also turned 15 carries into 65 rushing yards and his team’s only two touchdowns of the night.

Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles Prediction and Picks
Cowboys vs Eagles Prediction: Eagles 23, Cowboys 17
Cowboys vs Eagles Picks: Eagles -5.5 (Best Value: -106 at BetOnline) & Under 42.5 Points (Best Value: -112 at BetOnline)
This NFC East rivalry has favored one team over the other in recent years. In fact, the Cowboys have won seven of their last nine games against the Eagles, including each of the last three collisions.
However, things are different this year. For starters, the Eagles own the best record in the NFL and show no signs of slowing down. Their offseason moves successfully improved play on both sides of the ball, meaning this is Philadelphia’s best team in a long time.
While the Cowboys have succeeded against the Eagles lately, a lot of that success hinged on Dak Prescott’s play under center. Dallas fans hope to see Prescott back on the field this Sunday, but that may not be the case as he still needs to be cleared by a doctor for his thumb injury.
If Prescott can’t play, Cooper Rush will be making his first start against the Eagles of his career. The 28-year-old backup quarterback has led the Cowboys to a 4-0 record in Prescott’s absence, but things won’t be easy come Sunday.
The Eagles’ defenders only allow 189.4 passing yards per game (No. 5) while being tied for the most takeaways per game (2.2). While Rush hasn’t thrown an interception yet, he did have two fumbles against the Rams.
Besides, Rush hasn’t exactly been posting eye-popping numbers. He’s only averaging 167.8 passing yards per game as the Cowboys average the sixth-fewest total yards (298.0) in the NFL.
Meanwhile, the Eagles average the second-most yards at 419.8.
Despite how good Dallas’ defense has been this season, the truth is that the Cowboys haven’t faced an offensive juggernaut like the Eagles yet. Philadelphia’s weapons like A.J. Brown, Jalen Hurts, Miles Sanders and DeVonta Smith can all beat defenders in numerous ways, meaning the Cowboys defense must be at the top of its game.
At the end of the day, I see the Eagles staying unbeaten here. Even if the Cowboys get Prescott, he might not be 100% and still has to face a defense that’s no joke.
With the Cowboys’ offensive struggles this season, I could see the Eagles covering the spread. I do think the game could be closer than some expected because Dallas’ defense truly is solid, but this is Philadelphia’s game to lose.
I’m also willing to take the under on the 42.5-point total as another good Cowboys vs Eagles betting option. The last seven matchups in this rivalry played in Philly have averaged a total of 36.9 points, leaving me more than comfortable with the under.
