See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe Trevor Lawrence and Urban Meyer era did not get off to a good start last week. It was more than just the fact that the Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the seemingly hapless Houston Texans. The Jaguars simply did not look ready. NFL betting odds favored the Jags entering the AFC South rivalry matchup, but the Texans blew them away in a 37-21 win.
On the flip side, the Broncos opened the season with a road win over the New York Giants. This is another road game, but they have a great chance to start the season 2-0.
The Jags need to bounce back quickly. Otherwise those Urban to USC rumors will just keep swirling, no matter what he says.

Denver Broncos vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Outlook
The Broncos got off to a good start with a 14-point point win over the Giants, but it is reasonable to assume that might have made them look better than they really are. The offense was smooth though. QB Teddy Bridgewater was doing his thing, taking what the defense gave him while completing 28 of 36 passes, with no turnovers. Running back Melvin Gordon reached 100 yards, but 70 of that was on one play. The only negative from the game is that WR Jerry Jeudy is hurt and out until next month. But they should be fine without him against the Jaguars.
The excitement for Denver starts with what could be one of the best defenses in the league. They limited the Giants to just three yards per carry, and former Super Bowl MVP Von Miller, who was out all of last season, had 2 sacks. That is very promising. The defense looks ready to carry this team if it has to.
New Era Begins with a Thud
This is not a good Jacksonville team, and last week’s game was probably going to be one of only a couple of times they would be favored all season long. That is what made their loss to the Texans so disappointing.
Lawrence played like a rookie. He had 300+ yards and three touchdowns, but he also threw three interceptions. They got down big early and were not able to operate the offense the way they wanted to. The receivers are the strength of the team and need to make some plays against Denver if the Broncos are going to have a chance.
The defensive performance was not much better than the offense. They allowed Texans QB Tyrod Taylor to be way too comfortable. Houston was playing with a lead for essentially the whole game and it never seemed like the Jags were going to stop them and turn it around. Jacksonville had ten penalties and just one return yard for the game. Those are areas they definitely have to be better because they don’t have the talent or the coaching to go toe to toe with teams.

- Jacksonville is 5-2 ATS in their last seven games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
- The Jaguars are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games in September.
- The Jaguars are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games in Week 2.
Denver Broncos vs Jacksonville Jaguars Bets
Denver Broncos -5.5
I am looking for this one to be all Denver. They are going to harass Lawrence a great deal and probably pick him off too. I am not in love with the Broncos offense but against a weak defense, Bridgewater is unlikely to make mistakes. That combo leads to an easy win.
Prop Watch: Trevor Lawrence Over 251.5 Passing Yards (-115)
This one is simple. The coaching staff wants him to get reps throwing, and they are going to be losing. That will only create more opportunities. Maybe he doesn’t toss 51 passes like he did last week, but he won’t need to in order to get to this total. I think there is a good chance he is there by the end of the third quarter. He is going to take a few sacks, but that will just set up more opportunities where they need to throw.
Denver Broncos vs Jacksonville Jaguars Score Prediction
Denver Broncos 30, Jacksonville Jaguars 20
