See Picks & Statistics For The GameSit back, relax, and get ready for the work week with some Sunday Night Football in Minneapolis as the Minnesota Vikings host the Indianapolis Colts at U.S. Bank Stadium tonight. The Colts announced that they will be benching Anthony Richardson, and instead starting the veteran Joe Flacco at QB. In three starts, Flacco is 2-1 this season, completing over 65% of his passes and has 7 TDs with just one pick so far. Personally, I think this is right move to win RIGHT NOW, but will it be enough for them to win tonight?
The Colts are an NFL-leading 7-1 against the spread this year, but are just 4-4 straight up. After winning two straight, they lost last week to the Texans for a 2nd time this season. Going into Minnesota will be no easy task, especially with the Vikings coming off a mini bye.
Not only coming off the extra rest, but the 5-2 Vikings have now lost two straight. Things need to turn around, and against a struggling Colts team, I could see them bouncing back this week. They lost a heartbreaker to Detroit, and then failed to slow down the Rams, but with Brian Flores knowing he’s going up against Flacco, game planning should be much easier.
Will the Vikings defend their home turf? Or will the Colts pull off a road upset with Flacco at the helm?

Colts Moving Forward with Flacco at the Helm
Like I said, I think this is the right move for the Colts going forward THIS SEASON. Anthony Richardson could still be developed, and I wouldn’t completely give up on him, but Flacco is the best bet for the year.
Now, despite being 7-1 ATS and 4-4 SU, the Colts are 1-3 on the road this season. Minnesota is 3-1 at home, with their one loss coming on a last second field goal to the Lions. They’ve lost two straight, and face a weaker Colts team with a bounce back spot at home. However, I am not rushing to back the 5.5. I do think the Vikings win this and cover, but I see Indianapolis moving in the right direction. All of their skill players are completely healthy on offense, and defensively they are good to go as well.
Flacco could be a great leader for this team, but tonight he will face a fantastic DC in Brian Flores. Both teams are top 13 in scoring defense, but the total doesn’t necessarily reflect that. I think it’s a little high, but too high, and therefore a bit telling to me, making me lean with the over. But, neither will be getting my coin, I’ve got a player prop in my pocket.
Indianapolis Colts vs Minnesota Vikings Best Bets
Colts vs Vikings Prediction: Vikings Win & Cover, Over 47
Best Bet: Aaron Jones Over 73.5 Rushing Yards (-113) BetOnline
I expect Jones to have a very big night tonight.
He saw increasing snap counts every single week until he was injured in London. Jones opened the season splitting the reps with the rest of the room, but by Week 4, he was on the field in 82% of snaps. Coming back from injury and the bye week, Jones saw 72% of snaps in Week 7, and was on the field for 92% of offensive plays last week. Now let’s talk yardage.
Jones has cleared this line in 4/6 games he completed, going for 90+ yards in all of those contests. He’s done so on as little as 14 carries, but averages over 16 touches in his 6 complete games. Plus he has a VERY favorable matchup tonight. The Colts are 3rd worst in the NFL, allowing over 150 yards on the ground, nearly 160 on the road, and over 4.5 yards per carry. Excluding London, Jones runs for 4.87 yards per attempt, and Indianapolis has had trouble controlling RBs.
Colts vs RBs This Season
- Mixon: 30-159-1
- Jacobs: 32-151
- Bigsby: 13-101-2
- Pollard: 17-93-1
- Achane: 15-77
- Mixon: 25-102-1
Jones should be on the field nearly every snap at RB, he should get plenty of touches, and 74 yards should be a piece of cake.
