The football world is buzzing as the 2024 NFL free agency period finally opens on Wednesday, March 13. This offseason has already seen several big moves happen, including the New England Patriots trading QB Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Cleveland Browns acquiring WR Jerry Jeudy from the Denver Broncos.
Nevertheless, several big-name players are hitting the open market this week, including Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry.

Henry has been one of the NFL’s premier RBs ever since being drafted 45th overall by the Titans in 2016. Since making his debut, the former Alabama rusher leads the league in both rushing yards (9,502) and touchdowns (90) while earning two All-Pro and four Pro Bowl appearances.
So, yeah, “King Henry” is that good.
With Henry looking to continue his career elsewhere, NFL enthusiasts wonder where his next destination will be. Fortunately, various sportsbooks have odds on the situation, so let’s take a look at where the 30-year-old might end up.
NFL Offseason Betting: Derrick Henry Next Team Odds
Derrick Henry NFL free agency odds are as of Monday, March 11 at 11:32 a.m. ET.
- Baltimore Ravens (+130)
- Dallas Cowboys (+220)
- Miami Dolphins (+1000)
- Los Angeles Chargers (+1100)
- Houston Texans (+1100)
- Tennessee Titans (+1200)
- Philadelphia Eagles (+1800)
- Minnesota Vikings (+1800)
- 24 teams at +2500 odds or longer
Derrick Henry Next Team: Baltimore Ravens (+130)
While all 32 teams would love to have Henry on their roster, the Ravens are his likeliest next destination at +130 odds.
It isn’t too surprising to see Baltimore in the lead given its love to run the ball. The Ravens were one of the busiest teams on the ground in 2023, averaging 31.8 carries (1st), 156.5 rushing yards (1st), and 4.9 yards per attempt (2nd) while recording 26 rushing TDs (4th).
Having said that, the Ravens have a big hole in their backfield now that Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins are hitting free agency. They still have Justice Hill and Keaton Mitchell, however, Hill only has five starts across 59 career outings while Mitchell is only 22 and is coming off an ACL tear.
Could Derrick Henry be joining Lamar Jackson and the Ravens in Baltimore this NFL offseason?
And yes, the Ravens do have quarterback Lamar Jackson, who just recorded 821 rushing yards last season. The reigning NFL MVP is a terrific dual-threat, however, bringing in the likes of Henry would take a lot of pressure off Jackson’s shoulders.
There’s also no doubt that Henry would be the best RB that Jackson has ever played with. Since becoming the Ravens’ starting QB in 2018, Mark Ingram in 2019 is the only 1,000-yard rusher he’s had at his disposal.
Not only would Baltimore love to add Henry, but he likely wouldn’t mind joining a potential Super Bowl contender like the Ravens. He’s closer to the end of his career than the beginning and the Ravens offer him a great shot at winning a ring considering that they own the third-best Super Bowl 59 odds on Bovada.

Derrick Henry Next Team: Dallas Cowboys (+220)
If Henry wants to join another potential Super Bowl contender through free agency, the Dallas Cowboys could be near the top of his list.
The Cowboys have been linked to Henry ever since Tony Pollard failed to excel as the lead RB in Big D last season. Although Pollard was far from the worst rusher in the league, his 1,316 scrimmage yards and six TDs were disappointing considering how he had 62 more yards and six more touchdowns on 75 fewer touches in 2022.
Despite being America’s Team, the Cowboys haven’t won a Super Bowl in nearly 30 years and team owner Jerry Jones is only growing more desperate with each passing failed season. Jones has made it clear that he wants to go “all in” this offseason and signing Henry would help with that goal.

It isn’t hard to see why Henry would be a great fit for the Cowboys. While Dallas had the best passing attack in the league last season, it only ranked 14th in rushing yards per game.
The Cowboys also ranked 14th in red-zone scoring percentage, which would see a major boost after Henry recorded more RZ rushing TDs in 2023 (9) than Dallas did as a team (7).
If the Cowboys can find a way to convince Henry to move to Big D, the Super Bowl drought might finally come to an end.
Derrick Henry NFL Free Agency Dark Horse: Philadelphia Eagles (+1800)
While the Ravens and Cowboys are the most obvious choices for Derrick Henry’s next team, I won’t be surprised if he goes to the City of Brotherly Love.
On paper, the Eagles have one of the better teams in the NFL, but their 2023 performance left the fanbase wanting more. After a 10-1 start to the season, Philadelphia closed out the regular season with a 1-5 record before losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by 23 points in the Wild Card Round.
In other words, the Eagles need to make some upgrades this offseason — including the backfield. RBs D’Andre Swift, Boston Scott, and Rashaad Penny are all free agents, leaving management looking for a new RB1.
The Eagles have a Derrick Henry-sized hole in their backfield that must be filled this offseason.
For starters, the Eagles certainly have the money to make a deal work. Spotrac lists them as having over $39.8 million in cap space, giving them more than enough room to add Henry even if he wants a pricier deal.
The Eagles also have one of the better offenses in the league and Henry could excel behind their elite offensive line. It’d also give Philadelphia another short yardage option rather than relying on the “Brotherly Shove” each time.
Henry also saw how joining the Eagles benefited ex-Titans teammate A.J Brown. Since being traded to Philadelphia in 2022, Brown is third in the league with 2,952 receiving yards and sixth with 18 receiving TDs. That isn’t to say that I expect Henry to return to his prime form if he joins the Eagles, but it highlights how much a winning environment can impact a player’s performance.
Oddsmakers might see the Eagles as dark horses to land Henry, but a signing could be more realistic than it seems.
