Packers vs Raiders Week 5 Preview
Even though the Raiders enter tonight’s matchup as the favorites, it’s hard to have that much faith in Josh McDaniels’ team.
The Raiders just haven’t been good this season. They’re having a tough time keeping things close, losing the last three games by an average of 13.3 points. The series of losses plays a big role in Las Vegas owning the 10th-worst scoring defense in the NFL (25.3 PPG).
Unfortunately, things aren’t that much better on the other side of the ball. The Raiders head into the Week 5 MNF matchup averaging a 15.5 PPG clip — third-worst in the league. If that wasn’t bad enough, they’ve also yet to hit the 20-point mark in 2023.
Even without Aaron Rodgers, the Packers’ attack has at least looked decent at times this season. Their 25.0 PPG clip is good for 10th-best in the NFL and the 31.0 PPG they average on the road only trails the Washington Commanders (33.0).
It’ll be interesting to see what Packers QB Jordan Love has in store for tonight. While his 56.1% completion rate isn’t anything to write home about, he’s still thrown for eight touchdowns to three interceptions while averaging 225.3 passing yards per contest.
The Raiders might allow the 12th-fewest passing yards overall, but they’re also allowing an average of 228.0 at home (12th-most). Opposing QBs are also completing 70.7% of passes against Las Vegas (8th-highest), so chances are that Love will find success as long as he makes mistake-free plays.
It’s also worth pointing out that a victory tonight would mark the Packers’ ninth consecutive win over the Raiders. Las Vegas hasn’t beaten Green Bay since September 1987 and lost 42-24 when the teams most recently met in October 2019.
With the Raiders losing eight straight games to the Packers by an average of 21 points, there’s good reason to take the road team this evening.

Packers vs Raiders Prediction — Week 5 MNF
I’m taking the Packers to pull off the upset tonight. I could see them being 3- or 3.5-point favorites if this game was at Lambeau Field based on how the Raiders are playing. Las Vegas can’t score or stop points and once Green Bay gets rolling, Love & Co. are tough to stop.
If the Packers can get a sizeable lead early on, the Raiders won’t be able to bounce back.
Prediction: Packers 24, Raiders 17

With the Raiders being tied for the third-most TDs allowed to wideouts this season (6), I won’t be surprised if Doubs finds paydirt tonight.
