The floundering 1-4 Carolina Panthers travel to Los Angeles to take on the 2-3 Rams at SoFi Stadium.
The news this week around the Panthers was not good, as Head Coach Matt Ruhle was fired from his position after just a little over 2 seasons. He never seemed to quite fit in Carolina and his 11-27 record just isn’t going to get it done in the NFL.
Baker Mayfield was brought in to possibly revitalize his career after he was dumped out of Cleveland, but Mayfield has struggled mightily and is now, once again, banged up and will miss this game and possibly more.
Now, the Panthers have to travel across the country to take on a Rams team that is also struggling, but needs to pick up some wins.
The Super Bowl Champs haven’t quite got it going this year, sputtering in many games and not looking like their explosive selfs of the past few seasons.
Matthew Stafford has been pressured constantly, causing errant throws and bad interceptions. The offensive line is a mess and the only bright spot on offense is that Cooper Kupp literally catches everything.
They haven’t been terrible on defense but they haven’t been great either and that is not a winning recipe for a team of the Rams quality.

PREDICTION
This is a game that the Rams simply cannot and will not lose. I know they have struggled but the Panthers are in shambles and are already talking about trading many of their stars and fully rebuilding.
Christian McCaffrey has been a bright spot on offense for the Panthers but with the trade deadline approaching and the possibility of him being traded, I wonder how he will be utilized in this game.
The last thing the Panthers want is for McCaffrey to get injured and they lose all trade possibilities of their brightest star.
That being said, I don’t for see this game being close. But double digit spreads scare me, especially with teams that haven’t been playing particularly well.
I feel like I can trust the Rams to put up points here and take advantage of a poor Carolina defense under new coordinators and a new Head coach.

This game could get ugly but I am betting on Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp to have a field day with this Panthers secondary and jumpstart the Rams offense back to form.
There will be some props that I like in this game as well, but the props aren’t available yet for this game. Check back later this week to see which players I am targeting and why.
