The final week of NFL preseason action is here, featuring Friday’s 8:15 p.m. ET clash between the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. Both teams are coming off their first preseason victories, leaving time to tell who’ll head into the regular season with some momentum.
The Patriots head into Friday following a 21-17 victory over the Green Bay Packers that saw rookie wideout Kayshon Boute record a 42-yard touchdown. Meanwhile, the Titans won 24-16 against the Minnesota Vikings as running back Julius Chestnut tallied 99 total yards from scrimmage with a pair of TDs.
Even though it’s still the preseason, tonight’s Patriots vs Titans matchup is ripe with betting opportunities. Here’s a look at my betting picks for this matchup, as well as the latest betting odds from BetOnline.

Patriots vs Titans Preseason Preview
This matchup is between two teams who are normally successful in the preseason. The Patriots have won nine of their last 13 exhibition games while the Titans are 6-3 straight up in their nine previous contests played in August.
Having said that, I liked the way that Tennessee’s offense performed against Minnesota last week. For starters, the Titans combined for 281 rushing yards with two touchdowns on 40 attempts, highlighted by Chestnut and quarterback Malik Willis each tallying 90+ yards on the ground.
There’s a good chance that the home team could have more success out of the backfield tonight. The Patriots have allowed 208 rushing yards and a pair of TDs on 59 attempts through two preseason games.
Circling back to Willis, he’s been solid in August. Although he isn’t lighting up the opposition, his 137 passing yards per game and 61.9% completion rate are both up from his rookie preseason totals (106 and 54.9%, respectively).
On the flip side, the Patriots’ offense doesn’t exactly excite me.
When it comes to the backfield, New England is averaging just 3.8 yards per carry. For reference, that rate would have them ranked fourth-worst during the 2022 NFL season. And while the team has scored three rushing touchdowns, only one came from an RB.
Meanwhile, the Patriots have also averaged just 135.5 receiving yards per game, whereas their opponents have averaged 206. Outside of Boutte, the pass-catchers just haven’t been impressing too much.
Another thing worth noting is that neither team is great at covering the spread. The Pats are an abysmal 1-5 ATS in their last six matchups while the Titans have failed to cover in seven of their last nine outings on a Friday.
There’s also a good chance that we see a low-scoring game considering how five of the six previous Patriots vs Titans showdowns finished with fewer than project points.

Patriots vs Titans Prediction and Picks
Patriots vs Titans Prediction: Titans 21, Patriots 17
Patriots vs Titans Picks: Titans +2 (Best Value: -110 on Bovada ) & Under 38.5 Total Points (-110 on Bovada)
I’m going with a Titans upset victory tonight. Their offense — especially the backfield — looks better than what the Patriots are bringing to the table. If New England’s defensive line doesn’t tighten up, Tennessee is going to have a field day this evening.
Having said that, Tennessee covering the 2-point spread is the way to go.
I also recommend going with the under on the 38.5-point total. After all, these are two teams scoring a combined 35.5 PPG during the preseason. Given the results of their recent meetings, I don’t see us getting much offense at Nissan Stadium.
