Titans vs Packers (Week 11 Thursday Night Football) Prediction & Picks: Can the Pack go back-to-back?

It took a little help from the opposition, but the Green Bay Packers finally got back in the win column on Sunday with an overtime triumph over the Dallas Cowboys. They’ll be aiming for back-to-back wins on a short turnaround in Week 11 with the Tennessee Titans coming to town for a Thursday Night Football matchup.

The Packers were down 28-14 to the Cowboys entering the fourth quarter, but they scored the game’s final 17 points to break their five-game losing streak and ruin Mike McCarthy’s return to Lambeau Field.

It doesn’t mean that all is now right in Green Bay but digging themselves out of a two-touchdown hole and rallying to win could be a catalyst for a run over the next several weeks of the NFL season.

That said, Sunday’s win, as important as it was, won’t really matter much if they don’t build on it with another win over another team likely bound for the playoffs.

Will Henry Go Big in Green Bay?

After losing in overtime at Kansas City in Week 9, Tennessee bounced back with a 17-10 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

It was the Titans’ third straight home win after losing their season opener against the New York Giants, and they overcame an early 10-0 deficit to get it.

Ryan Tannehill made his return to action after missing two games, and he went 19 of 36 for 255 yards and two touchdowns, both to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine (five catches, 119 yards, 2 TD).

A decent return for Tannehill and strong play by Tennessee’s defense proved to be pivotal because Derrick Henry (19 carries, 53 yards) did not have a productive day against Denver’s defense.

While Henry didn’t fare so well against a Denver defense that went into the game allowing 4.9 yards per carry, it’s difficult to see the same thing happening against another generous group.

The Packers enter Week 11 ranked 28th in the NFL in yards allowed per carry (4.8) and 26th in rushing yards allowed per game (140.6), and they allowed 159 yards on 31 carries (5.1 yards per carry) against the Cowboys.

Interestingly, each of the four times Packers RB Aaron Jones has run for 100+ yards this season, Green Bay’s defense hasn’t fared well against the run.

• New England (Week 4 – 110 yards): 33 carries, 167 yards (5.1 yards per carry)
• Buffalo (Week 8 – 143 yards): 27 carries, 153 yards (5.7 yards per carry)
• Dallas (Week 10 – 138 yards): 31 carries, 159 yards (5.1 yards per carry)

So, if you back Henry to have a big day, you should back Jones to do the same. Or vice versa. Either way, both backs are worth considering for your Titans vs Packers picks.

Notably, Green Bay’s only loss thus far this season when Jones has hit the century mark came against the Bills.

So, even if Henry does have a big game, that doesn’t mean that the Packers are doomed.

However, while the win over McCarthy and the Cowboys was nice and needed and all, I’m not all that moved when it comes to making my Titans vs Packers prediction.

I went with the road team in last week’s TNF matchup between the Falcons and Panthers, which didn’t work out so well. I’ll own it, and I’ll own this one too.

But the Titans are 29-4 (26-4 in the regular season, 3-0 in the playoffs, 4-1 this season) in Henry’s 100-yard games. Dallas may have wasted Tony Pollard’s career day, but I don’t see Tennessee wasting Henry’s 34th career 100-yard game.
