Colts vs Jaguars NFL Week 5 Predictions & Picks (10/6)
The Colts head into this Week 5 showdown following last weekend’s 27-24 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, marking their second of back-to-back wins. Unfortunately, the game wasn’t without casualties as Indianapolis No. 1 quarterback Anthony Richardson exited the game with a hip injury and hasn’t practiced yet this week.
As for the Jaguars, they dropped to 0-4 on the season with a 24-20 loss to the rival Houston Texans. Having said that, a matchup with the Colts could be exactly what the Jags ordered.
After all, the Jaguars have won four of their last five matchups against the Colts and have covered the spread in each of their last eight meetings at EverBank Stadium. That includes when Jacksonville notched a 37-20 victory over Indianapolis during last season’s Week 6 matchup.
Nevertheless, this year’s Jaguars look like a shell of their former selves. They currently rank 30th in terms of scoring offense, defense, and average scoring margin. Although the Colts haven’t been perfect, they rank 16th, T-14th, and 17th — respectively — in those categories.
Will Colts QB Anthony Richardson be healthy enough to face the Jaguars in Week 5?
It might seem like the Jaguars will have an advantage if Richardson doesn’t play, however, let’s not act like Joe Flacco is a scrub.
Since joining the Cleveland Browns late last season, the Colts backup QB has completed 139-of-230 passes (60.4%) while throwing for 15 touchdowns, eight interceptions, and an average of 297.3 passing yards across six games (5 starts). He hit the 300-yard mark on four of those occasions and even threw for 168 yards, two TDs, and a 105.9 passer rating in relief for Richardson last week.
If the Colts play well defensively and Flacco limits his turnovers, they can upset the Jaguars on the road. Jacksonville has done little to inspire confidence this season and I don’t think the defense is good enough to take advantage of Indianapolis’ injuries.
With that in mind, I’m going to take the Colts to cover while ending their ATS skid against the Jaguars.

Best Colts vs Jaguars NFL Week 5 Player Prop
After glancing at the Colts vs. Jaguars player props on BetOnline, I’m locking in on a Jonathan Taylor anytime touchdown (+100).
The former Wisconsin running back has been up to his usual dominance, tallying 426 scrimmage yards and four touchdowns to begin the 2024 campaign. He’s scored a touchdown in three of his first four outings and now has a good chance of extending that success with a juicy matchup against the Jaguars.
Jacksonville has given up five TDs to running backs this season — tied for the fifth-most — and just gave up a score to the Texans’ Dare Ogunbowale in Week 4.
With a projected total of 46 points, there should be more than enough volume for Taylor to have a big Sunday afternoon.
Best Colts vs. Jaguars Player Prop: Jonathan Taylor Anytime Touchdown (+100)
