See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues will meet for Game 2 of their second round series on Thursday night. Colorado leads the series 1-0 after a 3-2 overtime victory in Game 1.
Josh Manson was the hero in overtime, as the Avalanche finally broke through for their third goal of the game. Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington, made 51 saves in Game 1, but it wasn’t enough to outduel the Avalanche.
Heading into Game 2, the Avalanche still have not lost in the postseason. After their Round 1 sweep of the Nashville Predators, Colorado picked up right where they left off. They were firing an enormous amount of pucks towards the net, and their defense was too much for St. Louis to handle.
As expected, Colorado comes into Game 2 as a heavy favorite to take a 2-0 series lead. They get to play at home again, and their fans will be fired up to see another dominant Avalanche victory.

The Avalanche’s Winning Ways
Colorado entered the postseason as the favorite to win the Stanley Cup this season. They have proved all the doubters wrong through the first five games they have played.
Winning 5 in a row in the playoffs is not an easy task. The Avalanche relied on scoring outbursts in their first round series to get ahead. Their defense has been able to hold every single game, and they are quickly moving into elite status.
The Avalanche also had their starting goaltender, Darcy Kuemper, return from an eye injury he sustained in the third game of Round 1. He was able to stop 23 of 25 shots and looked sharp in Game 1 against St. Louis.
The Avalanche offense had a week to rest after their first round sweep, and it showed early. However, they were able to make adjustments mid-game and survive their second overtime game of the playoffs.
Game 2 will feature a much different Avalanche team. They haven’t had all of the down time like they did before Game 1. They are still riding high with momentum, and it should propel them to a much easier Game 2 matchup.
Blues vs Avalanche Prediction and Best Bets
Blues vs. Avalanche Prediction: Avalanche 5 Blues 1
Blues vs. Avalanche Best Bets: Avalanche -1.5 (+105 at Bovada Sportsbook and +102 at BetOnline Sportsbook)
The Avalanche offense should be improved heading into Game 2. We know their defense has been stellar, but in Game 1 the offense was questionable. I believe that this game will look much different, and the Avalanche should be able to pull away at home.
At +105, the spread for Colorado is the way to go. It provides the most value, and the team only has to win by 2 to hit. This is a bet I am confident in as Game 2 arrives.
