All eyes will be on the Devils young talent, with Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt all having productive seasons for the Devils. Alex Ovechkin continues to chase Wayne Gretzky’s goal record and is red hot with points in 8 straight games and goals in 6 of 7. He’s got 5 points (1G-4A) against the Devils in three games this season.
The Devils are on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoff picture, but a marquee win over the Flyers in the Stadium Series on Saturday may be the catalyst for a late season charge to the playoffs. The Devils goaltending has looked better over the last few weeks while the Capitals goaltending has faltered. With quite a few offensive stars sharing the ice, this should be a really entertaining game.

Capitals vs Devils Prediction & Pick (2/20): Can the Devils Get Rolling?
The Devils catch Washington at an opportune time, as their defensive play and goaltending have been leaky. The Devils have found their offence, led by their three young stars and look to stay hot against a team allowing 3 or more goals in 9 of their last 10 games. Last time these two played, the Devils won 6-3 on the back of a 3 points (2G, 1A) performance from Nico Hischier.
The Devils and Capitals love playing high scoring games and the Devils have more depth offensively. Tyler Toffoli has been excellent all year for the Devils with 24 goals. He’s projected to finish the near with 37 goals, which would set a new career-high. He’s scored goals in two straight games and has 4 points (2G, 2A) against Washington, this season.
Books have the Devils with an implied Win% of 62%, while my model has them at 65% to win tonight. The line has value all the way to -185, and I would play the Devils ML up to -180 tonight. They’re a team who is getting better goaltending of late and will be playing desperate against a divisional rival to gain a crucial two points in the standings. Given how the teams have played and the individual hot streaks of players, there is every reason to believe the Devils will beat a struggling Capitals team, regardless of Ovechkin’s presence.

Jack Hughes Over 3.5 SOG (-150) BOVADA
Hughes has hit the over in his last 5 games and is a key piece of the Devils offense. He’ll have opportunities in transition and on the power play to make his mark. The model projects him for 5.21 shots and a 74% chance of surpassing his total.
Jesper Bratt Point (-215) BOVADA
Bratt has point in three consecutive games heading in to tonight’s matchup. The model projects him with an 81% chance of recording a point, making this bet close to 15% value. There is juice, so combining it with another player prop may be a smart move.
Nico Hischier Point (-166) BOVADA
Hischier has 4 points in 2 games against Washington this season. Given his recent run of productive play, there is no reason to think that trends ends tonight. with 6 points in his last 4 games, Hischier will be the beneficiary of a secondary matchup, and there is a major drop off in defensive play when John Carlson isn’t on the ice for Washington. Look for Hischier to capitalize and continue his run of strong play, especially if he gets net front chances on the power play.
Jack Hughes Assist (-135) BOVADA
Hughes has 4 assists in 2 games against the Capitals this season. -135 for the single assist when the model has him at 71% to record a helper tonight is excellent value. Taking a swing at 2+ assists for +310 given his track record against the Capitals this season and run of recent play has sneaky value, as well.
Ovechkin Goal (+160) BOVADA
The Devils goaltending has been better of late, but Alex Ovechkin has being lighting the lamp. When he’s hot, he’s HOT! While the goaltending may have improved, Ovehckin can beat any goalie from anywhere in the offensive zone. With goals in 6 of his last 7 games, his +160 line feels a little long. I’d play this down to +135 because it is never smart to bet against the greatest goal scorer of all time when he’s hot
