See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe Oilers and Kings are back in the States as they face off in Los Angeles for Game 3 of this opening round series. The Oilers dominated in Game 1, winning 7-4, however the Kings were able to get their revenge.
In Game 2, we saw a very exciting 1st period as 4 goals found the back of the net. The Kings scored just over 3 minutes into the game, and found themselves up 2-0 with 5 minutes to go. Then we saw goals from opposing teams just 29 seconds apart to have the Kings lead 3-1 after the 1st period. The Oilers were able to tie it up at 3 goals a piece heading into the 3rd, and the game was all tied up at 4-4 just three and half minutes into the final period.
We eventually needed overtime, where Anze Kopitar netted the winner just two minutes into the overtime period. Now, we are back in LA, where the regular season series was split 1-1.
Can the Oilers bounce back on the road? Or will the Kings assert their dominance and take a 2-1 series lead?

It’s All Tied Up at One Game a Piece
The Oilers have been the Kings’ Kryptonite the past two seasons. The Oilers lost both Game 1s, but bounced back and advanced in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. This series, they were able to snag Game 1, but the Kings evened the series the next game. Tonight at home, can the Kings secure another victory and take a 2-1 series lead?
We saw multiple Oilers contribute in Game 1, but their studs were much quieter in Game 2. McDavid secured a point with just 3 SOGs, Hyman scored but only shot the puck twice, while Leon Draisaitl added 2 assists on 8 SOGs.
They need those three to step up tonight on the road. And I’ve got faith that they will.
The Oilers scored 3.56 goals per game in the regular season, ranking 4th in the NHL. They’ve scored 11 in just two games this series against the 3rd ranking goaltending unit in terms of goals against during the regular season. I think we see plenty of goals tonight, but I’ll be backing them from just one side.

It’s no secret that the Oilers have tons of fire power on offense. They have tons of skaters who can pass the puck to set up their stars for easy goals. Edmonton especially comes alive in the playoffs. So far this postseason, they are scoring 5.5 goals per game, and here’s how they’ve done in past postseasons.
- 2022-2023: 3.67 Goals/game (12 games)
- 2021-2022: 4.06 Goals/game (16 games)
- 2020-2021: 2.0 Goals/game (4 games)
- 2019-2020: 3.75 Goals/game (4 games)
Since 2019, in a 38 game sample size, the Oilers have netted 143 total goals, averaging 3.76 per game in the playoffs. These numbers are since the McDavid Era arrived in Edmonton, so personally I think they are relative to tonight’s matchup.
Not only that, but last postseason against the Kings, the Oilers score 25 goals in 6 games, averaging 4.16 per game. The year before, they scored 27 in 7 games, averaging 3.86 per contest. That number seems to increase every year, and for plus money I think we see them net 4 goals tonight.
