See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe NHL’s Pacific Division is in action on Thursday, Feb. 23 as the Calgary Flames pay a visit to the Vegas Golden Knights. This is the first meeting between the division rivals since Calgary picked up a 3-2 win over Vegas back in October. A lot has changed since that last Flames vs Golden Knights clash, leaving many wondering who’ll emerge as the victor tonight.
The Flames are fresh off a 6-3 blowout win over the Arizona Coyotes less than 24 hours ago. Despite trailing 3-1 partway through the second period, the Flames found a way to rally back with five unanswered goals. When all was said and done, five different Calgary players finished with multi-point performances.
The Golden Knights return home following a 3-2 shootout loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday. The good news for Vegas is that it has won four straight games at T-Mobile Arena, making it interesting to see if that streak gets extended tonight.
While tonight’s Flames vs Golden Knights contest should be an entertaining affair, there are some betting opportunities that can amplify that entertainment. Here’s a look at BetOnline Sportsbook’s latest odds for the game, as well as a prediction and the best bet to make, courtesy of Betting News.

Flames Aim For Rare Win Against Golden Knights
The Flames enter tonight’s contest looking to do something they rarely accomplish: beat the Golden Knights.
The Flames have dropped five of their last seven meetings with the Golden Knights, getting outscored 28-17 in the process. While Calgary has won two of the last three collisions with Vegas, it’s worth noting that both of those victories happened at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Unfortunately for the Flames, tonight’s contest takes place at T-Mobile Arena — a location where they’ve lost seven consecutive games. In fact, Calgary has never beaten Vegas on the road before.
The Flames’ offense tends to disappear at T-Mobile Arena, proven by the fact that they only have eight goals in their seven previous visits. What’s even worse is that they’ve been shut out by the Golden Knights three times over that span.
Reversing that trend won’t be easy. As mentioned above, the Golden Knights have won four straight home games, allowing just nine goals over that stretch. They’ve also scored 20 goals from 11 different players in those contests, led by four markers from Paul Cotter.
The Golden Knights need to keep up that offensive production going forward, especially with captain Mark Stone being transferred to the long-term injured reserve earlier this week.
While the Flames haven’t had much offense in ‘Sin City’ in the past, they have been getting some decent road production lately. Calgary has scored an average of 4.11 goals in its last nine road games, scoring at least six in two of the last three.
Daily Faceoff points to Laurent Brossoit being the man tasked with stopping the Flames’ offense tonight. While the veteran Golden Knights netminder stopped 37-of-39 shots he face in the shootout loss to the Blackhawks, he hasn’t had much luck winning games, going 1-6-2 in his last nine starts with a 3.17 goals-against average and .887 save percentage.
The good news for the Golden Knights is that Jacob Markstrom has had his fair share of struggles too. The Flames goaltender has a 2-4-3 record in his last nine appearances, tallying a 3.35 GAA and .873 SV% in the process.
On top of that, Markstrom has also allowed at least four goals in eight of his previous 14 games against the Golden Knights.
Flames vs Golden Knights Prediction and Picks
Flames vs Golden Knights Prediction: Golden Knights 4, Flames 2
Flames vs Golden Knights Picks: Golden Knights ML (Best Value: -142 at BetOnline) & Under 6.5 Goals (Best Value: -118 at BetOnline)
Although all streaks must come to an end, I don’t see the Flames finally winning in Vegas tonight. The Golden Knights have been on fire at home and are the Pacific Division’s top team for a reason. Even without Stone, they’re a threat to a Calgary team that’s playing without any rest.
The under is the more appealing option when it comes to the total. Again, Calgary has issues scoring at T-Mobile Arena. That’s a big reason why five of the last six Flames vs Golden Knights matchups played in Las Vegas have seen fewer than 6.5 goals scored.
Considering that the two rivals combined for just five goals in their first tilt of the 2022-23 campaign, I don’t anticipate an incoming barn-burner.
