It’s a quiet night around the National Hockey League with only two games on Monday’s schedule. The second of the pair pits the Vegas Golden Knights (42-26-8) against the Vancouver Canucks (47-22-8) at Rogers Arena with a 10 p.m. ET puck drop.
#Canucks closed the road trip in Los Angeles tonight where the team saw goals from Brock Boeser, Dakota Joshua and Teddy Blueger, but ultimately fell short 6-3. @MichelobULTRACA HIGHLIGHTS | https://t.co/IBXxPCZWHB pic.twitter.com/U6GbO0UsUH

The Canucks ended their three-game road trip on a low note, falling 6-3 to the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Golden Knights saw their three-game winning streak with Friday’s 7-4 loss to the Arizona Coyotes that saw Vegas blow a three-goal lead.
A win tonight could solidify either team’s championship odds. Vegas currently owns the eighth-best 2023-24 Stanley Cup odds (+1200) on BetOnline while Vancouver is right in the rearview at +1400 (9th).

Golden Knights vs Canucks NHL Predictions & Pick (4/8): Can Vancouver Even Season Series?
Tonight’s meeting is a massive one when it comes to potential playoff implications. The Canucks head into the upcoming showdown with a Pacific Division-leading 102 points while the Golden Knights occupy the Western Conference’s second wild-card spot with 92. Depending on how the rest of the season unfolds, these two divisional rivals could meet in a first-round playoff matchup.
Having said that, Vegas has had the upper hand as it heads into its regular-season finale against Vancouver. The Golden Knights have won two of the three previous showdowns between these teams this season, most recently notching a 6-3 win at T-Mobile Arena on April 2.
Even though that victory took place in Sin City, it isn’t as if Vegas hasn’t had any success north of the border. The Golden Knights boast a 4-1 SU record across their last five trips to Vancouver, most recently notching a 4-1 win against the Canucks at Rogers Arena on Oct. 30, 2023.
Aside from the loss to the Coyotes, the Golden Knights have played well on the road lately, going 3-1-1 in their last five away matchups.
At the same time, the Canucks are 5-1 SU in their last six home games, which includes winning three in a row. That’s without mentioning how they’ve also won five of their six previous outings as the favorite.
Having said that, Vancouver needs better goaltending if it wants that trend to continue. Allowing six goals twice in the last three games is certainly a concern.
Time will tell if Canucks goaltender Case DeSmith can finally break out of his slump. He’s lost each of his last four starts, tallying a putrid 4.36 goals-against average and .847 save percentage along the way.
Meanwhile, the Golden Knights are likely rolling with Logan Thompson, who looks nearly unstoppable lately. The veteran netminder has backstopped his way to a 6-1-0 record with a 2.05 GAA and .931 SV% in his last seven appearances.
Do the Canucks have what it takes to beat Golden Knights G Logan Thompson?
The Canucks are a great team and have thrived at home all year, but I like the Golden Knights tonight. Vegas has been the better team lately, even winning three of its last four games. The Golden Knights have also had a ton of recent success at Rogers Arena and just blew out the Canucks less than a week ago. I smell an upset.
With that in mind, let’s stick with the Golden Knights on the moneyline. There’s some nice value to be had at +106 odds, so don’t hesitate to pounce before the line moves even more.

With the way he’s been playing lately, I’d be silly not to take the Over on Jack Eichel’s 3.5-shot total.

Eichel has been the straw that stirs the drink for Vegas, generating a team-high 91 shots on goal in his last 18 games. Not only did he average 5.1 SOG during that stretch, but he also finished with the Over 14 times — including in four of his last five outings.
Having also finished with the Over in seven of his last nine meetings with the Canucks, I’d be shocked if Eichel doesn’t pull through again.
